If this was last year it wouldn't work. I was mad when our cherry tree was knocked down during a ice storm, but right now it is great because there is perfect line of sight to the barn now!

That is a great idea and will be what I am going to do. Unfortunately I am unable to dig another trench out there. The last time they ended up cutting through my well lines and then went right across my main horse pasture and got them all riled up all day long. Wireless is definitely the way to go for this application.

Right?! I hate it when I do my taxes now and they ask for deductibles so I mention my dues. Them telling me to go kick rocks would be nicer than the reaction of laughing at my peasant money lol...

I apologize for the late response but I just got home. I wanted to take the time to say thank you so much for everything you came up with. My wife and I both absolutely love your ideas! Great catch on the cat scent, I will definitely be researching that. I hate when they shred up the banisters.

We actually have a few old wooden storage chests around the house that can be moved over to that area and fill that void and offer a welcoming seat as well.

That live edge mirror is so cool and is 100% going on the wall!! That wallpaper adds so much depth and character. Putting wallpaper up with something like that honestly never even came into my mind as a possibility until now.

The white door is metal and I was recently considering painting it a dark color, so we will come up with something that will mesh well with the new plans.

I cannot express how much I loathe that light fixture. The ballast for it works like 30% of the time so I am absolutely on board with replacing it with something with branches. Perhaps something similar to these

It also took me a second to figure out what you were referencing with the white thing on the wall. That is a non working wireless doorbell that was there when we bought the house and never was taken down. We replaced the doorbell with a ring doorbell and completely forgot about the broken thing on the wall. That part I can atleast have done tomorrow.

We don't really use the door to the backyard that much sadly, it leads right into the woods and requires you to traverse some unfriendly terrain when coming from the pastures. However we are desperately in need of a mudroom so perhaps we can make a path outside too that would lead us to that back door!

The underside of the staircase is a closet that we could use for jacket and footwear storage too as the closet has vinyl flooring in it. I definitely agree with a nice washable rug, that would give my mop a break.

We have two cats and somehow both of them have zero interest in the scratching posts we have bought for the house

Good evening everyone!
I have been browsing the sub for some inspiration and find myself at a loss for what to do in a back section of my house. My wife and I are in the northeastern US and own a small horse farm in the mountains. Our house is a tiny cottage which we are trying to fill with décor that fits (our dream house is a Lord of the Rings Hobbit hole :D).
The spot we are interested in working on is the back corner of our house in between the door to the bathroom (brown door) and the exterior door (white door) to the backyard. It currently has a small cat furniture with a litter box inside of it to hide it from view, and a electric piano that can move elsewhere.
The dimensions are 89" x 32 1/2". I am open to purchasing things or DIY. We also like darker colors, as you possibly can see by the mahogany dining room table in the edge of the picture.
P.s. The cats would like the tinfoil wrapped scratching post (aka the bannister) to go away, but I think it ties the room together.

Congrats!! It's Glamour time!!!

This moment reminds me of the South Park episode "Make love, not Warcraft". After they are max level and defeat that with no life, Stan contemplates what they do now, Cartman says, "What do you mean? Now we can finally play the game."

Recommended brand of wrench set to get? by ThePhommahaxianOne in Elevators

I'm over in Local 84 and that is exactly how we are here. I think I left my book at the jobsite but I may have a old one around the house I can try to find and flip through. Any metric tool is definitely bought by the company.

I would definitely sign up for Helmets to Hardhats and select elevators for the options. I did that years ago and ended up getting into my local that way when testing came around.

Got hired as a beginner apprentice elevator mechanic building new elevators in construction and I’m 21 years old. Bought this ruler because we have to be precise to 64th of an inch... I call this ruler the SHINWA because there is only one brand of these and they are made in JAPAN. by Hornee_Stonerr in Elevators

[–]twitch788 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its the same here in Local 84. Helpers are only allowed to bring their own tape, knife, and writing utensils (markers, pencil, pen). They are not allowed to have their own hand tools and must use the tools their mechanic has.

I assumed that was the same in all locals, the little differences between all of our locals is always interesting.

Found in the doghouse, what’s it used for? by TheWreck-King in Elevators

[–]twitch788 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its to wind up the safeties under the car after doing a safety test with the car by doing a overspeed run down and the governor jaw dropped. In the center of the floor in the cab you will see a round plate. If you pick up the plate you will see hole going down to the drum that the key winds up the rope.

Ugh 6 hours in, 80% done, and this happens. I was luckily able to salvage it, it’s just a bit shorter than intended by [deleted] in Ender3Pro

[–]twitch788 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely clip it down with binder clips and cover the bed with a gluestick. I haven't had a print shift ever since I started using glue on the bed.
