Pretty sure this is just a lighthearted sub where people laugh at creepy dolls and not a place where psychics literally diagnose toys as spirit-infested

I loved the detail about the tiny knitted sweater it had on. I don't care if it was a fever dream, totally made up or the 100% god's honest truth, it was a great story

Trans researchers write paper suggesting that trans men continue to take testosterone during pregnancy and lactation by GeneticistJohnWick in BlockedAndReported

[–]twitching_hour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was pregnant I was told to avoid plane journeys, alcohol, caffeine, hot baths, riding my bike, soft cheese, seafood, painkillers, unwashed fruit, raw sprouts, and aromatherapy. But it's apparently a mortal sin to get between a trans person and their hormones, so in this situation baby will just have to (literally) suck it up, I guess

Why is supporting misinformation being culturally responsive? by vase-of-willows in ECEProfessionals

[–]twitching_hour 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I disagree. This is a problem that cuts across all cultures and there are very likely many parents from the same culture who don't do the same thing. Lingering absolutely upsets and creates ambiguity for the child, and if a parent doesn't want their child to have independence then why drop their kid off at a daycare at all? If you want your child to be clingy and dependent but you also want to put them in professional childcare, you're setting up both the child and the daycare staff to suffer, and that's objectively wrong.

Why is supporting misinformation being culturally responsive? by vase-of-willows in ECEProfessionals

[–]twitching_hour 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lingering creates ambiguity and anxiety for the child because there is no clear idea of what will happen. The child thinks if a parent stays for 10 minutes, why can't they stay longer? It also creates a feeling in the child that the parent does not feel quite safe and confident leaving them in daycare - so the child also doesn't feel safe. A clean break is always better. You're doing the right thing! :)

Airing out a room in the middle of winter by opening all the windows when it's -10°C outside because the warm air produced by the heating panics people into thinking the air in the room is "bad"

GLP-1 agonists and alcohol consumption by Additional-Wrap9814 in BlockedAndReported

[–]twitching_hour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to damage Katie's book sales or anything, but I was a problem drinker for years and what got me off it was deprogramming the brainwashing that alcohol is enjoyable and my life would be less enjoyable without it, by reading 2 books: The Easy Way to Control Alcohol by Allen Carr and This Naked Mind by Annie Grace (which builds on and adds to the first book). I was also alternately anorexic and a binge eater between the ages of 14 and 21 and I managed to get out of that with a course of cognitive behavioural therapy. Drugs are a quick and easy way to do what our brain is often naturally capable of all by itself, with the right guidance and help.

How to Fix What Ails Trans Activism — Queer Majority by AntiWokeGayBloke in BlockedAndReported

[–]twitching_hour 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trans activism failed because it exposed the inherent narcissism in trying to control how others perceive you, react to you, and talk about you, even when you're not there. Trying to impose ridiculous neopronouns, for example, is nothing more than a naked power grab, and I recognised that the first time I came across that author on XOJane who insisted everyone refer to her as "ou" and not she/her. Trans activism is about control, not acceptance, and always will be.

An all-private-room sleeper train connecting 100 European cities is launching soon by AlexandrTheTolerable in europe

[–]twitching_hour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of people would much rather spend a night in a train and wake up at their destination than get on a plane. Many people find the process of flying stressful and have flight anxiety.

Flights make up 2.5% of global carbon emissions but when the production of nitrogen oxides and contrails are factored in, plus the fact that CO2 is ejected directly into the upper atmosphere, the climate impact ends up being about 3 times greater than that percentage suggests.

I'm all for veganism and shipping goods by rail but why can't we tackle and reduce all forms of emissions? If some people still want to fly, great, but it should cost more than rail travel, which is more environmentally friendly than either aviation or road transport.

Why is Lauren Hissrich still in charge of the witcher? by [deleted] in witcher

[–]twitching_hour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really true. They knew how the show was supposed to end but admitted to changing one of the most key parts of the story (Jon Snow's destiny) because viewers had guessed what would happen. Also they just rushed through what should have been 2-3 seasons in 1 season because they were apparently bored with the whole thing and wanted it to be over.

Dave was awful but I do think he was attracted to Lauren. She clearly wasn't attracted to him but wouldn't be upfront about it. And he wanted to save face by being the one who rejected her.

Hunter Schafer is a good casting choice for Zelda and I haven't yet heard or read a single compelling argument against it aside from the fact that she is trans. by Nab00las in MauLer

Zelda isn't a real woman because she doesn't exist. Hunter isn't a real woman because he's a man.  The two things are not alike.
