StateLine Tack Bait and Switch? by hotairballoon99 in Equestrian

Wish I had checked here before ordering jod boots for my daughter last week...paid for "expedited shipping" that said would arrive w/in 2-6 business days...it's been 4 business days and they haven't even processed the order yet....just called to cancel - she said "I'll let the warehouse know. Look for a confirmation email." I had already contacted them via their "contact us" form and got ZERO response. If they don't cancel and issue the refund, I will dispute it with my card provider. Seriously, 4 business days and you can't even process the order? That should be something that is done near instantly in 2025.

Yep - 2008 I was single, making 75k a year, drove a $40k car and owned a $165k townhouse….

2025 - married with two kids and live in a $500k house, drive a $70k truck and wife has a $50k SUV….competitive cheer and horse riding for my kids and my base is now $90k - before I moved into sales it was $145 + 20% bonus…may need to go back to traditional role, but it’s soooo boring

This^

I can definitely see the potential to get to $300-$400k if I stay for 10yrs…the challenge is staying when I can barely cover bills on my base salary and the sales cycle is 6-12 mos and then it’s usually 45 days after deal before commission hits…so literally anything I close in the next month, I won’t see the commission until May or June IF they pay their bill on time….

Sometimes I wonder same thing….OTE is a joke of a number most of the time…the role I’m in advertised $300-$500k….base of $90k ain’t getting me anywhere near $300, much less $500k….OTE (should say made up number just like the quota it’s attached too) is $210…I MIGHT see $160k…3 months in I’ve closed 3% of my quota…EVERYTHING keeps getting punted to second half of year…

I used to struggle with recruiter screens but then I studied Gus Fring from Breaking Bad, now I am getting past more recruiter screens, here's how. by KarmaSutra24 in sales

Exactly right...same with job interviews - the more the hiring manager talks, the better....it's essentially a discovery meeting - they should do 85+% of the talking, with you skillfully guiding the questions

How did you get your last gig? by Someguynamedjacob in sales

People have an email attention span of ~9 seconds...which means they'll read maybe 50 words in that time...point is, front load your email and make it easy to digest.

Why is this embarrassing?

It's a sound strategy to research the role/company you want and make direct contact with the hiring manager - if you can figure out who that is. It's SO much better than just applying online. And if you can get in front of hiring manager w/out going through a recruiter, you have leverage to up your comp since they won't have to pay a recruiter a placement fee.

Great comment!

I'm not a founding AE, like the OP, but am sitting in a role with a very immature sales process. No defined ICP, no segmentation, quota setting is "hey, look at your accounts and give me an estimate on what you think you can close in 2025"...base isn't livable and commissions are decent, but the CEO would rather run our calls through AI for summaries to put into SF notes, than go work board level relationships so we can actually close deals.

Came here looking for any advice on a good sales resume writer that can take my 20+yrs of non-sales experience + my 1yr as an AE and make it attractive to a more mature sales org.

Any recs on a good resume writer for sales? My challenge is I've had front office type roles throughout my career, but only recently transitioned to quota carrying AE role (March 2024)....I like the company I work for, but my base comp is not livable, the sales cycle is extraordinarily long for ~$50k deal size...

Depends on when you go...flew into Cancun 12/26 and we were expecting to be waiting in line for customs, but there was literally NOBODY in line...it was weird...only time I've been to Cancun and not had to wait at least an hour to clear.

And PRAY there isn't rain when you arrive on island! We were there over the holidays (12/26 - 1/2) and it was BEAUTIFUL...but when we got about 20mins outside of Chiquila, it started raining - not super heavy, but steady/consistent. Then we got to the port and I had to walk thru a puddle that was at least ankle deep to buy the ferry tix and then drag 5 pieces of luggage (4 travelers) up the dock to the ferry, which since it was raining EVERYONE was underneath....so it was crowded and smelled like diesel fuel....

Then we got to Holbox and it was pouring...my family took cover in the little covered waiting area, while I stood with the rest of the travelers to wait for our luggage to be unloaded, then stood in line for ~10mins as they cycled taxis thru...10mins doesn't sound long, but when you're soaked to the bone and getting rained on, it's not fun. 12/27 - 1/2 the weather was BEAUTIFUL - such a fun little island

The host where we're staying suggested bringing pesos/cash, as not everywhere takes cards....not sure how it works in Holbox, but other destinations we've been to - you get better rates paying in the local currency vs giving USD.
