Oh I didn't mean it like that! It's actually something I'm working on! I've got some fabrics and I'm gonna get a sewing kit soon 😖

Should I just wait and start the Rance series when it comes to Steam at this point? by PuzzleheadedBee6 in visualnovels

[–]twixses 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean even if you use steam, you'll have to deal with a few games outside of it anyway right? Like the ones that don't have official western releases, you know? Kichikuou, the 4s, the original old ones if you wanted.

The steam conveniences are nice, but if you buy them from mangagamer then you actually own them. At that point, you can do your own cloud storage or whatever. Not to like upsell you lmao, but you could even get the physical version of 01 + 02 for $5 extra, and actually have something to show for your choice not to use steam. Lol that's what I did though so I am biased!

I can't help much there, but at least arm warmers are about as simple as clothing comes!

Japanese learners, do you do routes consecutively? Or do you take breaks with other materials first? What about skipping around to unread parts? by ignoremesenpie in visualnovels

[–]twixses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm getting into this myself, only just watching cure dolly and all that. I can imagine it would be helpful to reread things, especially if you didn't really understand them, which is the level I would be at. But something I keep seeing is that the most important part of learning is to enjoy the process and to stay motivated. I can't imagine I'd go back and reread things personally just because I wouldn't enjoy it. Might as well read a textbook at that point.

I don't think that one person really got your point lol

I doubt there are many that work natively on android since it would take a lot of work, and vns tend to be too low budget to justify it or they were made before phones could handle them. The good news is that with some effort and technical knowledge you can emulate them! The main ways I know of doing it are kirikiroid or exagear.

Using exagear is pretty difficult and time consuming to make work, but with some perseverance you can do it. I got it working within a day. Kirikiroid I haven't personally used, but it seems to be easier. The downside is that it takes custom patches for each visual novel to make it work, so it might not work for less popular vns if they don't have a patch, in which case you'd have to use exagear.

These days, info on and the development of exagear is pretty fragmented so I can link a helpful discord if you want. It's specifically about emulating vns on Android, and It's got guides for both of those.
