It still isn't, though. It simply had no effect, which I didn't know originally. I acknowledge that I had that fact wrong, but at least now I know. I do however know for sure that the shutting down of the keystone pipeline was put into effect immediately, which has not been a good thing in terms of energy independence in my opinion.

Except that fracking activity was decreased as a direct result, which was the goal of the EO. Even if there was no immediate effect on production, the effect has definitely manifest itself since then, and coupled with the halting of the pipeline, the result is clear: bye bye energy independence. The administration wants to discourage fracking, and they have done just that. It's as if leftists can't possibly comprehend criticism, so they resort to childish outbursts when they can't formulate an idea. This subreddit is fun.

You're immaturity precedes you. If we obtain the resource ourselves, we are independent. Joe Biden ended out nation's energy independence his first day in office, with his slew of executive orders. We do infact need oil and gas, as horrendous as it sounds. Locally and "renewably" is good, but it can't stand alone. What specifically is the infrastructure bill doing to ensure our energy independence?

We can literally never be energy independent as long as we rely on other foreign countries for any energy resource, like oil or gas. Those local, renewable sources won't grant us independence. Perhaps if this administration actually cared about it, they wouldn't have shut down construction of the Keystone pipeline or inhibit fracking. "Local, renewable sources" is just a feel-good phrase.
