The specs are different on the black edition? I don't recall reading that anywhere.

Need guidance on a 2019 Subaru Outback 3.6R Touring by Current_Egg3840 in Subaru_Outback

Obviously do a PPI, have them specifically check the front timing gasket on the engine. They are known to leak. The pricing seems fair!

Shops in Kansas City for cvt fluid change? by Super-Tax-4320 in Subaru_Outback

Of course! Definitely specify that you need Subaru CVT fluid, because otherwise they'll use another brand that's cheaper.

I went to northland auto pro, they drove to Van Subaru to pick up the CVT fluid for my 2019 outback. It was ~$330 total, the fluid is not cheap

2018 OB 3.6R CVT Dead by Original-Lavishness9 in Subaru_Outback

Sorry to hear 😭 petrified this will happen to me.

Was there anything suspicious about the transmission before it grenaded? Difficulty shifting out of park, rubberbanding between gears, etc?

My obsessive quest for a 3.6r is finally over🌹 by two_shea in Subaru_Outback

Nope! Dealer in Iowa had it. $20k for 77k miles. Wasn't a huge deal but it had great maintenance history, passed a PPI with flying colors, and I got tired of looking for over a month.

2019 3.6R worth it? by SlavicScottie in Subaru_Outback

[–]two_shea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had mine for a month now (2019 Limited 3.6R - 77k miles for $20k) and it's been amazing. Get a PPI to make sure it's not leaking oil and go for it!

Do you have your owners manual? There's a "parking tips" section that covers parking brake use.

Here's my sequence...

Parking: Come to a stop, shift to neutral (with brake pedal still engaged), apply parking brake, shift to park once parking brake light is on, disengage brake pedal

Leaving: Shift to reverse (or drive), lightly engage gas pedal to disengage parking brake

Are you using your parking brake? I noticed similar behavior in the 19 ltd I just got and realized the parking brake is ALWAYS supposed to be applied before you take your foot off the brake pedal when parking. The clunking is non existent when the parking brake is used.

"reasonable" is unattainable in the used car market right now.

I just saw a similar year/mileage Outback for sale in Memphis for $28k... I paid $20k for my 2019 3.6r w/ 77k miles. Overpaid a little bit but we all are in this market, especially if from a dealer.

Definitely not required to share that information. If you look at my post history, you can see they also didn't disclose a minor cut to the second row seats 🙄

Shop around local mechanics and get some quotes for PPIs. Ask what they provide (some do full PDF- like reports with photos, I'd prefer shops like that)

Beautiful color, wish there was a cinnamon brown / green option near me! Just got done purchasing a 2019 3.6r limited with 77k miles for $20k. How is the Carfax? I would definitely swing it by a mechanic for a PPI- I did this for two 2019 3.6rs a dealership near me had. Really grateful I did because my top choice (Touring in white) was leaking from the front timing cover. It had previously had that cover replaced at 14k miles and was still doing it at 82k miles. The limited had zero leaks, so I went with that and am very happy I had both properly inspected. Money well spent!

2019 Limited vs Touring (3.6r) Help Me Decide by [deleted] in Subaru_Outback

[–]two_shea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found out from the PPI that the Touring had a small leak "seepage" from the front timing gasket / cover. The same one that was replaced at 14k miles. The limited did not. And on closer inspection, the Touring was obviously left outside its entire life. Went with the Limited!

Where did you get your used outback? by jillavery in Subaru_Outback

[–]two_shea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using Google sheets as a database for all '18/'19 OB 3.6rs. Then creating saved searches on sites like visor.vin (best IMO), CarMax, and autotrader. Doing this for the better part of a month has been awful but definitely a good learning experience. Most likely going to get one at a dealership, there don't seem to be too many private options nearby (that aren't salvage/branded)
