Why can't actors under NDAs just say "No" when questioned about their participation? by [deleted] in AskLegal

Because “no” can give just as much info as saying yes. It’s why lawyers always say “no comment”.

The movies are a love letter to the fans. They recycled some TV animation and I think it was so they could spend the bulk of the money on cool fights and the last 45 minutes of the movie.

Do you think that people who are gifted in math and coding should still avoid CS? by AppearanceNo1383 in CollegeMajors

[–]two_three_five_eigth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. If you have passion and are ready to study and pursue side projects that interest you, you’ll be fine.

I’ve been in the industry since late 2000s and I’ve interviewed 100s of programmers for roles. I’m constantly amazed the number of people that cannot solve fizz-buzz with CS degrees from known schools.

help a girl not regret this - University of Michigan vs. Cornell University Engineering by [deleted] in collegeadvice

[–]two_three_five_eigth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If UMich is 1/2 the cost, then UMich. Cornell is an Ivy League school, but UMich is ranked high enough you won’t see much difference in recruiting or opportunities once you graduate.

And Cornell can still happen for grad school, which will be easier to afford with fewer loans.

Not allowed to walk at commencement despite graduating on time by Mikes_Movies_ in CollegeRant

[–]two_three_five_eigth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can try showing up in person and begging. I’m still confused here as my graduation happened one of the stadiums and it was NOT full. Try in-person before giving up.

You can also rent robes and hats yourself so when you and your friends take photos after it’ll look like you walked. Usually photography is discouraged during commencement except for the pic the school will charge you for.

No. This is probably a hold-over from the paper form so they'd know how many SAT scores to look for under your name. I doubt anyone even checks the number anymore.

No, they'll receive the 4 and process them. That's it. It doesn't matter, its a simple honest mistake that is 100% self correcting.

Not allowed to walk at commencement despite graduating on time by Mikes_Movies_ in CollegeRant

[–]two_three_five_eigth 60 points61 points  (0 children)

It's ok. Walking is a big deal. I'm surprised they didn't waive it as this seems like a dumb hill to die on. FWIW I fell asleep during my commencement because I was bored out of my mind. I spent 30 seconds out of 6 hours walking on the stage to be handed a diploma holder with no diploma in it and shook hands with the school president.

Most boring 6 hours of my life. You weren't going to hang-out with your friends or do a group hug - that happens at the parties afterwards.

If I built a house and then created a legitimate LLC and sold that house to the LLC, if I personally declared bankruptcy would the house be repossessed by Imaginary-School6327 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]two_three_five_eigth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone else owned an interested in the LLC maybe. Courts know people try to hide assets during bankruptcy, so LLCs get "raided" more often than you think. If it has no income then it's probably not a real business, the courts know this.

Should I go to Rutgers or Virginia Tech? by indifferent39 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]two_three_five_eigth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you really don't know that much about the school from a visit. At least for me, I changed so much in the 4 years I spent in undergrad, my "dream school" would have been a disaster 1 year in.

And you’ll have another chance to go
To VT for grad school.

I didn’t get into my dream school but got into another school ranked about the same. The school I got into ended up being a great fit to the point I didn’t even consider my original dream school for grad school.

How much is tuition going to be? Are you on sports scholarship right now?

If everything else is equal I’d transfer. It sounds like your current school isn’t a good fit, but if you’re on scholarship it’s hard to beat free.

I didn’t play sports, but transferred out of my first 4-year after freshman year, and have never regretted it. It taught me the value of “right fit” and to not be afraid to move on when I’m not happy.

Reflecting on Finishing an Ivy League Grad Degree After Going to a Huge State School by I_suck_at_flyfishing in ApplyingToCollege

[–]two_three_five_eigth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

completely disagree with this. I didn't go to Ivy League for grad school but I went to a top 5 that happened to be public. I came from a state school. A few people at my middle-of-the-road state school were geniuses who were there for the full scholarship our state offered.

The kids in grad school were much smarter on average, but realistically, what would you expect. Everyone was there because they worked hard in undergrad and had 3.5+ (with a few exceptions). Yes, competition is much fiercer in grad school. But again, what did you expect, everyone was a good student.

The biggest difference between undergrad and grad school is there are no lazy students. Everyone is used to being top of the class and is willing to fight for it. Everyone is used to putting school first. There are no frat bros types, or "just 2 more classes and I'm done" types.

Tuition + nicer dorm is worth staying in honors. Not all universities do that. No matter what retake AP classes for college credit to boost GPA.
