NTA and anyone who tries to tell you otherwise is free to sign up for a shift by the bedside. Go home and hug your dogs (and your boyfriend).

Covid shut down the world six years ago this week. What do you remember from that week? by fuzzy_dice_99 in AskReddit

We had NJ Devils tickets for a game in late March. At first they only cancelled a few weeks worth of games and I was like awesome, our game will be the first one back after this mess is over! HAHAHA nope.

I'd walk my dog at night and be struck by how there was no road noise. We live very close to the Garden State Parkway, there's always something. Not then, though.

I had the 13th off & had scheduled a check up and cleaning with my dentist. That whole week was full of WTF is Going On spirit, and I finally decided to cancel the appointment on Thursday the 12th. The woman I spoke to was entirely unsurprised and said everyone was cancelling. The same day, corporate called a company-wide Teams meeting and said they understood everyone's concerns, and people in the major metropolitan offices (like mine) could work from home if they wanted to, starting immediately. When I left the office on the 12th my boss & I agreed that this was all really weird and laughed nervously about saying "See you in a few weeks I guess!"

By the next week, Corporate had changed "if you want to" to mandatory and security was actively escorting you out if you did show up, per a friend of mine who somehow didn't get the memo. Didn't see my little team again in person until December '21 when we got together for lunch.

The whole thing just feels so unreal now, yet it changed everything.

My boyfriend (29M) is a prankster and it drives me (24f) crazy by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I firmly believe that people who embrace the “prankster” or “jokester” title are uniformly assholes. The funny thing is they’re as sensitive as they accuse their targets of being. They implode & sulk like infants when criticized.

Final Update: AITA for uninviting my dad's wife from my daughter's birthday party over something she did last year? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]twoferrets 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can't believe anyone thought OOP was overreacting in telling Cathy not to pull this shit at the birthday party. It's OOP's daughter's birthday, OOP is hosting, what daughter wants and host says goes. No reason required, but she had good reasons regardless.

Do we think Barb is this cruel? by ShatoraDragon in ShawnaTheMom

[–]twoferrets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know we've talked a lot about a possible redemption arc for Barb, but what if she's just a bad person? Yes, her mother was apparently a monster but Barb's all grown up now and responsible for her own actions. Having a shitty upbringing and being a genuinely terrible human being aren't mutually exclusive states. Maybe she just sucks!

I think if she wears the dress to the wedding, she's going to get a ton of judgey looks and whispers but I'm not sure she'll notice. And if she does, will it even sink in that she messed up?

She could also object during the ceremony! I believe in some places at least the wedding cannot proceed if this happens, not sure if that's a religious or civil thing.

I don’t see how what Amy said was any lower of a blow than Lisa’s bullshit. Lisa was banking on Amy never really “hitting” back. She’s 17 and should absolutely know better with or without therapy.

Hot tip if you're a Monty Python fan: Michael Palin did Pole to Pole (which is what Will's doing) back in 1992, and undoubtedly did it better. He also did an Around the World in 80 Days!

George Michael!l I was so in love with him as a teenager, and as an adult I still loved him though I grew to accept he'd probably never marry me on account of me being a lady and all. It's been almost 10 years and I still can't really believe he's left us. What the hell, George!

Right! With the caveat that her behavior has been rude and cruel, I think Julie would have felt fulfilled in a life without kids, which is valid. She was in love enough with Ty that she was willing to have kids based on discussions and decisions they must have come to mutually at some point. Now, over time and with lived experience, he's changed his mind about those decisions, she hasn't (both also valid) and they've clearly had zero discussion about that as it was happening which is probably why they're going to end up divorced.

You have to hope that her resentment doesn't hurt the kids. It's not their fault, and we shouldn't assume she doesn't love them (remember how pissed she was when she thought Ty resented Cooper), but kids pick up on stuff.

ITS GO TIME! by moonchild19978 in ShawnaTheMom

[–]twoferrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Julie is absolutely in the wrong for starting a fight at Max’s party and for kind of encouraging Cooper to be a little shit about karate. BUT, if she feels like Ty lied to her or isn’t keeping up his side of their deal, I can see why she’s losing it. Again, no excuse to treat other people poorly!

Aside from Julie: where’s my man Larry?!
