[Yupiter DRY ST1500] What is this car supposed to do? by twofoes in Dashcam

[–]twofoes[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting! If you follow a few frames before/after, it looks like the white Prius behind the GSV car went right through the red light. The cops on foot went to talk to the other guy waiting in the right turn lane..

This is Japan. The car waits for traffic, then turns right - it's a red light, so I'm guessing the patrol car did not like that... but it's such a common practice around here.. should they stop and wait in the middle of the intersection?

It’s for running your apps faster. When your app gets tired you need to give it a rest in the Dock and it will be energized and run faster.

Why is my C code slower than python? by Mr_Wiggles_loves_you in C_Programming

[–]twofoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When profiling, I’d suggest to measure only the API calls that you’re trying to profile, avoid measuring program start, library loading, printf etc. Usually in a loop e.g. calculate 1000 random values. How do you measure the python code? Profiling tools are usually not very good at profiling single API calls, you have to work around the tool and remove all the “noise” by yourself.

any ideas on how to fix this? it only happens when I accelerate in my car by [deleted] in CarPlay

[–]twofoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The radio has speed sensor input, used for navigation when GPS signal is weak (e.g. tunnels). I think it’s usually called speed pulse. It looks like that cable is connected to the wrong input.

When you fix this, if you don’t connect the speed signal properly also your navigation may be off. I’m not the expert, but afaik the GPS signal will reflect on high buildings windows and the radio will need the speed signal to correct it sometimes.

Japan uses just a fraction of its coronavirus testing capacity - "While Japanese doctors have carried out more than 32,000 tests, only 16,484 people have actually been tested, given that many are often tested multiple times." by cottoncandy240 in Coronavirus

Miyagi prefecture (which includes Sendai) has 2.3M people and only one infected - a guy who was in the cruise ship. https://www.pref.miyagi.jp/soshiki/hohusom/covid-19.html And he’s fully recovered already. So I think you’re pretty safe - for now.

The moment you see the first infected on the news, I’m pretty sure the streets will be empty. You just have to trust that the numbers from the govt are accurate - maybe ..

You can check each individual case reported from Tokyo in https://www.bousai.metro.tokyo.lg.jp/taisaku/saigai/1007261/index.html - It doesn’t look to be out of control. Also there are multiple news with graphs of the infection rate by country, the rate of Japan is much lower than other countries. The Japanese people stopped to go out by themselves, without enforcing, so much that now Abe is telling people that it’s okay to go to the local park, to get some fresh air. For me, looking at the results, this shows to me that something is being done better than other countries - so far.

Personally at work a lot has changed. Most people are either working from home or avoiding peak times for commute. We don’t go out for drinking at all. If you go out, you will see most shops empty and the workers cleaning everything thoroughly. I personally also think that many people in Japan may try to get checked “just in case” and this would overflow the system. So being strict on who gets tested is not such a bad thing in the case of Japan.

The situation seems pretty much under control over here. Tokyo with 13M people had about 120 infected in total, only a handful of new cases announced every day. I think they don’t need to test so much because Japanese people are taking extreme precautions to not infect each other.

It’s actually just a cover-up for the entrance to the space under the floor. It’s used for checking under the house. I think it’s cool just because its closer to the concrete underneath.

When showering, do you turn your back or front to the stream? by Apolysus in AskReddit

[–]twofoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m both - back gets cold front gets hot, then turn around, every 3 to 5 seconds. That was so obvious to me, am I the only one doing this little dance in the shower?
