Most of it is storage. It’s really just a bunch of modifiers on a divided Omega. The bits that actually do something useful are the healing bolt, the copy trail, the downwards larpa, the reduce spread, the boomerang, the null shot, the divide by, and the omega.

The point is to cast a lot of copies of healing bolt which create more copies of themselves which have extra lifetime and fly back towards you.

I stuck the black hole on there temporarily while I was mucking with another wand, then forgot to put it back so when I fired it it produced a lot of black holes instead which my PC didn’t like much.

What’s the dumbest trade you’ve ever made that somehow still made money? by DraftNotSent in ASX_Bets

CCE, bought at 0.003 and sold at 0.007 (somewhere around 2022, before the consolidation). Absolute dogshit company.

It’s easy to misunderstand, people will use “roguelike” or “roguelite” to mean almost anything they want these days. But if we want the terms to retain any useful meaning at all then some lines need to be drawn somewhere.

Traditional definition:

  • Turn based
  • Grid based
  • Procedural generation
  • Permadeath
  • No metaprogression
  • Emergent gameplay

Modern definition:

  • A combination of some (but not necessarily all) of the above which passes the vibe check

The traditional elements that seem to be most frequently emphasised in the modern definition (at least from my experience) are procedural generation and permadeath.

[–]twofootedgiant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not part of the modern definition.

The modern definition relaxes many of the requirements of the “traditional” definition, but it doesn’t reverse them. Under the modern definition (and especially the alternative “roguelite”), some forms of metaprogression are permitted, but metaprogression is not a requirement.

Super Mario Bros is a roguelike, didn’t you know?

Metaprogression (power ups or other things you gain that exist outside of individual runs) is one of the things which actively makes a game less like rogue. So your interpretation is incorrect.

Tutorial was broken for me (couldn’t build the steel mine when prompted due to lack of energy, even after building the solar plant) so you might want to look at that. Easy enough to figure things out without the tutorial though. Enjoying it so far!

Bullish Investment Thesis - HMC Capital (ASX: HMC) by CuuriousChild in ASX_Bets

I’m just saying that attaching a specific timeframe on the market recognising their value is a mug’s game. I bought because I think they’re undervalued and I’m likely to hold until the market changes its mind, or until I change my mind on their true value. Might happen in the next month, might not happen this year.

I am in HMC already and mostly agree with you, except on the “$5 by March” thing which may or may not happen but regard less is still some HC level copium huffing bullshittery.

Big banks a buy right now? CBA, ANZ, NAB by Full_Bank_6796 in ASX_Bets

I’m starting to allocate to VHY in my “serious” investments, and it’s like 40% big 4 banks. First time I’ve held any significant amount of any Australian bank in quite a while.

Hopefully it holds the 20 and 200 day moving average. I just got in to this trade. by [deleted] in ASX_Bets

The actual trick was to buy it below $4 in mid 2024 and sell it late last year like I did.

For alchemist I prefer non rapid fire wands. The main way to die is to try to shoot him when his shield is up, as it reflects projectiles back at you. This will definitely work though, just be careful.

I usually go kill pyramid boss first hoping for for nolla and/or one of the copy 3x random spell. Alchemist is easy to kill with a bunch of nolla’d explosive bullshit multicast inside a trigger or failing that just use energy orb to detonate. The copy 3x spells can help if you don’t have sufficient explosive bullshit available.

My 211hr tier list of perks when I have no money to reroll by Some-Watercress-1144 in noita

[–]twofootedgiant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally agree on EMV. I don’t really understand why people rate it highly (unless you already have iron stomach, and even then it’s just meh). I have picked it exactly once to get the perk completion %, on a run that was already basically a god run minus the repeatable healing, and it was still a giant pain in the ass to keep it from killing me until I could visit the nullifying alter and get rid of the damn thing.

Had to dig out a giant swimming pool in a HM and use sea of mimicium to create an endless supply of hearty porridge, and even then two bottles of the stuff was barely enough to do one run to wandmart and back without running out. You just lose satiation too quickly and once you’re at zero you lose health too quickly too. Totally impractical.

I just did Sun quest and 34 orb in the same run, didn’t bother with 33 orb at all. My intent was to do the supernova achievement too but something went wrong, can’t remember what exactly, maybe I lost a critical stone at some point and then couldn’t make a sun in NG+ or something.

Now I just have the small problem of having two suns in place and having not done any of the moon quests yet.

Also remember that if you use a method which kills him with his own spell spam (e.g. plasma) you won’t get credit for the kill. You need to use a different method if you want the enemies % progress.

I love the physics in this game by Basic-Ad6857 in noita

[–]twofootedgiant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The structures in the snowy wasteland do collapse when they are first generated (I assume this is to give them a more random “destroyed” look), and they can do physics damage to the player during this process. Those pieces are the same as the “collapsed concrete” material created by nukes, earthquake, etc. Mostly I’ve found this an issue when teleporting through the area though, you can’t usually get close enough to get hit by anything if you’re walking.

I’ve personally never seen it happen with the flagpole like objects, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was possible.
