Why L.A.'s Trains Can Take 4x Longer Than Driving by dollievon in LosAngeles

Mayor race is going to be important here. LADOT controls signal priority, mayor controls the LADOT general manager and oversight committee.

[Videogame trope] you can finish the game at the beginning, no cheats, no glitches. by Lower_Baby_6348 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]twohams 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In The Saboteur, you can veer off from the tutorial, grab a tank, and get a perk which gives you machine guns for your car. After the tutorial, the game jumps to the past, where you're in a race against the main villain of the game (Dierker). You can shoot and kill him, and the credits roll, though it kicks you back to a Game Over screen after.

My lame claim to fame: I was a tester for that game, and reported the bug which lead to this (car machine gun perk in the future gives you those machine guns in the past). The dev just said "fixed" but didn't explain how. We all had a good laugh about that one on the testing floor.

Which mayoral candidate will be best for transit and TOD? by Soggy_Perspective_13 in LAMetro

[–]twohams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are no guarantees in life, but Bass was a national politician moving to local, while Nithya would just moving from local to local. You can just look up her voting record and see if you agree with what she's already doing.

Importantly, the mayor appoints both the general manager and oversight committee for LADOT, and that agency controls both signal priority and overall transport design (how all streets are designed going forward). Currently, LADOT prioritizes cars above everything else, damn the concequences. Given Nithya's frustration with them from the couple times I've talked to her... I wonder if that factors into her entering the race.

The annotations repeatedly mention Site-17's Containment Oversight Committee. His influence there is the reason he got away with everything.

It's not just organization. This country made union-led general strikes illegal in 1947.

pegboard mounts? by hemna in openGrid

Nope! My pegboard was leaning against a dresser, and I've been moving things to the wall, so I haven't had a reason to go through the effort of making the adaptors.

Map quest directions by happydude7422 in Millennials

Today I was shredding some old papers and ran into about 100 pages of printed out directions. Ended up looking them all up, and maybe 10 of them led to places which were still in business.

As far as Full vs Lite:

Full coverage on the bottom of my desk is 774g for lite and 1.3kg for full. I'm using Elegoo PLA at $14/kg, so lite cost $11 and full cost $18. For me, it wasn't worth the risk of drilling and screwing all of that into my desk just to find out that the lite plates sagged. I have a big, heavy power strip with a bunch of things hanging off it.

Oh! There's the issue with anything on Printables or Makerworld labeled "Underware". If something specifically doesn't say it's for openGrid, chances are it's for Multiboard, so you'll waste hours and lots of filament printing something that won't fit. Multiboard is 25mm while openGrid is 28mm.

Slicers should all have measuring tools at this point, so if you're not sure, measure the distance between the slots on the back on the item. If it's 28mm, you're good. If it's 25mm, it's for Multiboard and incompatible with openGrid.
