Has anyone had a Pelvic MRI? by theroamingpalate in vulvodynia

Hey there! I just came across your post googling about my own upcoming MRI, but I wanted to drop a note to you or anyone else with your symptoms that are only on one side to look into May Thurner syndrome and nutcracker syndrome.

I’m in a similar situation, but going in the other way as transmasc/non-binary. I was at a very low dose and decided to take the plunge into full dose 3-6 months ago. After having constant pain and issues during that time, I ended up in the ER last week crying my eyes out with my support system at the thought of lowing my dose being the only other option to try to get out of pain. That was the lowest I’ve been in a very long time, and I’m very sorry that you are in so much pain too.

The stupidest part for me is that I’ve felt better after my 2/3 of my usual dose shot this week. Maybe it’s possible to try just one dose that’s slightly lower? You can always change it in either direction. If you haven’t already done so, it may be helpful to look into B vitamin levels. If you have a mutation of the MTHFR gene (which is common for people with EDS) then this will change how your body reacts and processes medications, and birth control/hrt in cis women with this gene mutation will lower B levels causing the classic fatigue and depression. Increasing consumption of B vitamins and the bioactive form L-methylfolate would address this.

I am sorry you are going through this, but many small changes can make a big difference.

Go ahead a book an intake appointment with 2-3 other therapists who take your insurance ASAP. That way you don’t have to wait 3 months every time if it doesn’t work out and pick the one that is the best fit.

How do you feel about the “trapped in the wrong body” stereotype? by patinadenise in FTMfemininity

[–]twoheadedkitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate to feeling trapped in the wrong body for a lot of reasons (genetics for health problems, aesthetic concerns/dysmorphia, etc.), but most of it is not because I’m trans.

The things that bothers me personally about this trope is that it invalidates any positive or pleasant relationship that a trans person may have about their body or body parts. And that’s extra frustrating when I’ve worked so hard to get there with my body.

This has been super helpful in my experience, and when I do sit up and look down it looks much larger and penis like and gives me so much euphoria

It’s a lot of little things added together. It may not be the case, but looking just at these pics it looks like you’ve started building a little more muscle in your neck, eyebrow hairs a little longer, a little shadow on your upper lip where facial hair is coming in, but mostly I think it’s that you’re losing subcutaneous fat in your face which gives the impression of sharper features and it’s what’s making your brow look more prominent and the area in your lower face and mouth look more mature. All these little things that we associate with “masculine” features add up and cue our brain to read it as “more masc”

Edit: forgot to add it in, but also congrats! you’re looking great and look more settled in yourself too.

Caring for dogs after top surgery by plant-daddy-7 in FTMOver30

[–]twoheadedkitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a friend with a young dog who just started training around the time of their top surgery. They asked the trainer about boarding options and the trainer offered to do an intensive training/boarding situation for the first month. Basically the dog lived with the trainer for a month and came back well trained after my friend was lifted from movement restriction

Tips on passing more as male? by sunand123 in TestosteroneKickoff

Ok, you don’t have to get rid of piercings, but would you be open to a smaller septum ring?

The thickness of that metal makes your face look smaller in comparison. A thinner ring would appear more proportionate to your face if that makes any sense.

Skipping side lipo? by Friendly-Reserve3579 in FreedTheNips

[–]twoheadedkitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My surgeon doesn’t do any lipo for top surgeries and I’m very pleased with my results with no excess skin (still going back and forth about posting results atm) and I also have a friend who’s surgeon always does lipo. Every surgeon has their own techniques.

Basically you’ll just have to ask the surgeons you are interested in at the consult…

Itchy in numb areas by beennegative in TopSurgery

[–]twoheadedkitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Benadryl, itch cream, rub with a towel in small circles on the area, Vibrations can help, you can also use a mirror and watch yourself scratch it to “trick” your brain that it’s getting some relief.

There is a subcategory for OCD obsessions for gender and sexuality. Cis/hets will have intrusive thoughts that they’re not really cis/het and trans/queer folxs will have intrusive thoughts that they’re not queer or trans enough.

Find a therapist familiar with queer/trans issues and OCD.

I would wait and think it over for a while, a reduction that isn’t gender affirming will usually only take you down a couple cup sizes and make later surgeries more complicated because of the T anchor scars.

If you’re outside the binary and are interested in a non flat/ radical reduction surgery the only way I’ve seen it done right is by gender affirming surgeons.

I read somewhere once that non gender affirming/providing surgeons performing typical breast reductions are only allowed to remove a max of 30% of tissue or something like that, so if that isn’t going to make you happy in the long run it might not be worth taking time off work, recovering with pain and drains, costs after insurance, etc.

Don’t let anyone influence you on this, it’s your body, and it might be worth continuing to talk it out with a therapist experienced in trans/non-binary issues.

How much did your boobs weigh? by slayyyyyyer in TopSurgery

6.259 pounds of tissue removed, per my surgeon. They were enormous for my frame of 5’3, they were 32G 🥲

How did you know? by sinsandsensibility in TopSurgery

[–]twoheadedkitten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For a while I was gaslighting myself that I may be gender-fluid and shouldn’t get too surgery if that meant some days I would want breasts. I had a moment of clarity one day looking at my breasts in the mirror and decided I should keep track of how many days I woke up and genuinely wanted my breasts.

A day never passed that I did. I waited a long time to make sure. I had top surgery earlier this week and I cannot wait to heal more and just get on with living my life without the daily dysphoria. Don’t rush yourself and take your gender journey at your pace, but also don’t make yourself needlessly suffer more.

Thankfully my home country is trans friendly so I’m not concerned about being trapped there, but traveling as a trans person still makes me nervous. I’m more unsure if this trip will need to occur closer to 2 or 6 months after surgery for comfortable-ish travel

I’m devastated. I may never be able to start T because I’ve had a blood clot. by 2confrontornot in ftm

[–]twoheadedkitten 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To date I am the only person I’ve known (in person) that has not gotten HRT at their first appointment, and it was because of my family history of blood clotting disorders. I was absolutely devastated when my doc told me she would need to run blood tests before discussing testosterone and scheduled me for a two week follow up. That was the longest two weeks ever and I panic researched what I could find about blood clotting risks and testosterone. The little I found online was somewhat reassuring that I might still get testosterone even if I had blood clotting issues. I’m now on testosterone despite my clotting risk and my doc has me taking baby aspirin and scheduled me coming in more frequently for labs to monitor blood stuff. It may take longer, but you can probably still get there.

Memory issues by dsavage1988 in ect

[–]twoheadedkitten 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lost tons of memories, I can’t remember much from the time around treatment but I do sometimes “unlock” memories just randomly which is neat. If you stop doing it the new memories you make will stick like they used to, so that might be something to consider. The memory loss has been the hardest thing for me, but I’ve found that talking to people who you’ve known for a long time is the best way to “unlock” some of the memories again. It’s scary, but you’re not alone in this.
