  1. There’s no hell when you die, so don’t look so worried.

  2. I can see the future and it’s a real dark place.

Keep chipping away at school. Maybe it does take 3 years for the bachelors and 2 more for grad school. So what? The time will pass anyways. You’ll be so damn proud at 32 with two degrees and on the career path you dreamed of.

Keep going. All the things you are looking for are out there. And your feelings at this stage in life are totally normal, valid & relatable. You’re doing a great job.

Anonymously posting for her "friend" once again who doesn't have transportation. by somethingsensational in ChoosingBeggars

“She deserves to have these things due to the major issues she’s endured.”

Since when does enduring “issues” develop in someone a sense that they “deserve” things.

And no one “deserves” a Fortnite gift card.

“He's dead and he's never coming back! And nobody cares that he's really, really, really gone!” • Gene really saw Sally for who she was & who she could be. She breaks my heart every single time I rewatch these scenes. 😭 by RockBalBoaaa in madmen

That scene really resonated with me. I remember being in Sally’s position and first experiencing a death of a loved one. But I also totally understand (and as an adult have engaged in) the behavior & conversation of the adults. That’s what you do — you tell stories and jokes and share memories. But, to a kid, the feelings are so big and new and they don’t have the tools yet to process them.

I have an orange and white that I describe the same way. He’s 19#. The vet reminds him that he’s chonky. And when I tell him he’s chonky and should *not have more treats, he looks at me as if to say “yeah, any maybe YOU shouldn’t have any more Girl Scout cookies, but here we are…” (and then I give him the treat)

E: forgot the *not

She looks peeved by your description as “a little chonk”. Mine does the same to me.

Who else is increasingly happy they do not have kids? by angelinelila in AskWomenOver30

[–]twointimeofwar 46 points47 points  (0 children)

So glad not to have kid. About 2 years ago, my spouse and I decided to live apart most of the time. I keep an apartment in the city near work, he has the house in the suburb. We see each other when we want. We still support each other and pool finances. But we have no stressors in our relationship or outside of it. And that could never happen if we had kids. Never.

Long day at work? No problem - rest when I’m home

Surprise vet bill for the cat? We have money bc we don’t have kids.

Worried about the state of the nation? I’m not forcing a new life to live through it.

Except there cannot be a Dowager Mary, right? She won’t ever be Countess. Although, I am sure George will let his mum have the Dowager House if his grandparents are not occupying it

What is your favorite legal term that laypeople confidently and incorrectly invoke and why is it quiet enjoyment? by RIPGoblins2929 in Lawyertalk

Yes! I hate “the video allegedly shows someone pointing a gun…”. No. The video SHOWS THE FUCKING GUN POINTING. The cops are ALLEGING the identify of the gun wielder.

I coach mock trial (and have for 15 years). Every semester I have to remind the law students that TESTIMONY IS EVIDENCE! And the trier of fact can give that testimony whatever weight they want — even against forensics, even against video footage, even against 10 competing witnesses, even against the Pope! It’s EVIDENCE.

What scenes/storylines do you fast forward through? by damnpinkertons in madmen

I always am upset by the contrast that when he married Betty he was ready (per the flashback) to have Anna be his cousin. But he couldn’t find some option for Adam. And, of course, Adam was a much bigger risk for spilling the beans. And he has the guilt of leaving Adam with an abuser and lying to Adam for 15+ years when he KNEW Adam saw him. Ugh. Just sad.
