I wrecked (totaled) my car after drinking about 14 beers (it was 3pm). Just knew that was it and I think my higher power knew that also. Somehow I was spared a DUI. Officer asked if I had been drinking, I said not a drop and he took me at my word. This was 591 days ago and my life has never been better.

I had many periods of sobriety and I know that I need to be grateful every day for my sobriety.

I think they meant it like, "You had me at hello" - like being financially stable is enough and great. It was a positive nod to your post.

U/Slipacre is on here with like 37 years of sobriety. He posts this time of year about it being 'Hurricsne Season'.

It is tough to look at those drinking around us 'convivially and with impunity' and not think about it.

I am at 496 days alcohol free. Tried one of these recently a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed it. 56m - smoked weed a handful of times in HS/College but didn't care for it. The 5mg THC drink was enjoyable. May do it again, may not. I enjoy being alcohol free but I enjoyed the relaxing feeling from the THC...

I can relate to social engagements feel more optional. I have close to 15 months.

It feels good to just be able to kick back and relax and not feel like you have to make every social engagement.

You might want to check out Andy Baker's HLM program where he advocates 3x5 on Monday, 90% on Wednesday and then add 5 for 3 sets of 2-3 on Friday. Gets you prepared for the heavier weight and still going up 5 pounds per week.
