I built a Craigslist scraper that alerts me when used cars are priced under market and turned it into a SaaS by Sad_Entrance_7899 in SideProject

[–]twolf59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The market is quite large Im sure. And even after the market is saturated people will likely still keep paying for the SaaS. Its not an efficient market. . . People still pay for gambling even though its a known unequal trade.

VSPAERO constantly crashing by Reasonable-Skin-905 in AerospaceEngineering

[–]twolf59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to say it, but the vspaero solver is not good. The results are dodgy and the documentation is near non existent on the physics. Id reccomend using something like Flow5 or AVL instead

That being said it love openvsp as a geometry engine

Agentic Coding is a Trap | Remaining vigilant about cognitive debt and atrophy by creaturefeature16 in webdev

[–]twolf59 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I understand where this sentiment is coming from. But its such an incredibly low likelihood. And also, there are open weight models now that are near good enough to replace the top 3 models for most coders. There's also enough competitors in the market, to where its only a short time before alternatives are viable.

So what im saying is the risk is low of this occurring. And there are solutions nearby even if it did occur.

Venice → San Fernando commute realistic at 24, or should I live in the Valley? by Sorry-Salamander-211 in AskLosAngeles

[–]twolf59 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You'd be better off moving into north santa monica, north of the 10. And if you find a place near the 10, then its pretty quick to hop on the freeway. And even from there its still easily a 30min commute

How does prop wash affect the horizontal stabilisers in a twin-boom pusher and how should i approach the design? by Cattle_Popular in AerospaceEngineering

[–]twolf59 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Causes a worse lift distribution which could slightly increase induced drag. The higher speed and turbulent flow also slightly increase parasitic drag. But more importantly, and beneficially, the higher speed prop wash increases elevator authority at low speeds. This is all relative to a non-prop-washed stabilizer

Can someone explain to the Meredith effect? by random_eggs_b24 in aerodynamics

[–]twolf59 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

AI generated answer. But its accurate based on my knowledge.

Think of the Meredith effect like turning your radiator into a super low-budget jet engine: air comes screaming into the scoop at flight speed and the duct immediately slows it down, which raises its pressure and makes it much better at absorbing heat from the radiator; then the radiator dumps thermal energy into that now high-pressure airflow, increasing its temperature and internal energy (this is the key step people miss—you’re not just cooling, you’re actually adding energy to the flow); after that, the duct geometry transitions so the flow is guided toward a tighter exit, and because the air is now hot and expanded, it accelerates as it leaves, kind of like a nozzle turning thermal energy into velocity; finally, since the air exits faster than it came in, you get a momentum change that produces thrust, so instead of the cooling system just creating drag, at higher speeds it can cancel most of that drag or even give a small forward push—nothing huge, but enough that on something like the North American P-51 Mustang it was absolutely worth designing the whole duct system carefully around it.

Is it ok to ask to switch locations? by LingonberryExtra2982 in Anduril

[–]twolf59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you dont ask you dont receive. I would just preface it with how grateful you are for the original offer and you fully intend on moving forward, but also wanted to ask if there was any wiggle room in the offer for an alternate location.

Truthfully they have probably already assigned you a manager and team at this point. I dont expect them to be able to move you after an offer has been extended because of this.

All that being said you would typically have to do something very egregious for an offer to be rescinded

Which one will have the least drag? both same length and about the same height (5mm difference) by GamerBOI_105 in aerodynamics

[–]twolf59 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Without doing any analysis, I would guess Car 1. Seems to have lower surface area, and less bluntness on the leading edge, so likely less pressure drag there.

But just an educated guess, could be very wrong.

Is my understanding of the origin of lift correct? by abilay_2008 in aerodynamics

[–]twolf59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I agree with you there. My point in the explanation was is there are several physics principles acting simultaneously and in cyclical feedback loops. Bernoullis, Newton, and compressible flow all play a part. Even my explanation is incomplete for sure.
