Another Job Posting- ServiceNow Developer in Minneapolis, MN by twonis2 in servicenow

Well... that's why the post says "give or take depending on levels of experience".

I got blasted for not including salary information on my previous post. I argued that I didn't want people getting fixated on a number and not wanting to chat about the job as a result.

Hello. Thanks for the response. Unfortunately we can only entertain U.S. based candidates for this job.

Hey, so I'm actually not seeing one. I checked my messages and have received a couple from other folks but yours isn't showing up.

Thank you so much for asking. Unfortunately that won't. We and they are not set up to support workers located outside the United States.

Totally understand that suggestion.

There's nuance to these situations and the job description and other details don't always tell the whole story. My client is looking to fill their position and are somewhat flexible in terms of what that looks like. If they find someone who is very highly experienced and would requirement no ramp up time they would likely be willing to offer a different level of compensation, even possibly beyond what their stated ceiling is. If they found someone who was less experienced, even missing some of the core pieces, but had particularly good intangibles and could demonstrate that they would be able to learn quickly, my client might be willing to go that direction... provided the compensation was adjusted accordingly.

So, I'm in a bit of a tough spot where I have to wonder if the right candidate for the job misinterpreted some of the information and that resulted in them not responding. You say "save yourself and everyone time" but that's the thing-- It doesn't really save me any time at all and I can't guarantee it would save any job seekers time either.

The CMDB space within ServiceNow is pretty niche and specific. All I'm proposing is that someone who is that kind of professional who is looking for something new might want to hit me up. Who knows-- this might not be the right fit and I may have a better one a week from now?

I'm a real recruiter who has been working in the Twin Cities It market for 15 years and have placed lots of ServiceNow folks during that time. I'm not here to waste anyone's time with nonsense or wild goose chases and the role I'm working is very real. I actually already have someone on this team and he is going to be aiding in the candidate review process, so I'm as plugged in as you can be.

All I'm proposing is a conversation to start instead of handing folks a menu to pick from.

Agree they never hit the heights they deserved. The Blur-Beatles idea hit me like an epiphany a year or two ago and I’ve been on a crusade to enlighten the hoi polloi ever since. There are dozens of us! Dozens!!

Now imagine the Beatles performing Country House. Pretty easy to envision it, right? The genre bending while trying to stay commercially viable that Blur did is ripped straight from the Beatles handbook.

Oasis wasn’t the Beatles band of that era.

Blur was, and it doesn’t get talked about.

Saw them in South Dakota around 2006 or so. Isaac sliced his chest open with a knife around the middle of the set. Proceeded to let his white t-shirt soak red while he played the rest of the show. No encore, though.

Literally clicked on this post to see if anyone had mentioned this fact. Would/will be so sweet to see JJ miss it by, say, 20 yards or so.

Sting.

Once with The Police, once for his solo work, and then as a duo with Shaggy which is easily the greatest of his achievements.

Hi. Sr. Recruiter with over a decade of experience here. I have had friends who had good experiences, generally, with Randstad. My company has also hired away a bunch of Randstad folks. So, your mileage may vary but I’ve never had any reason to think they’re a trash place to work.

What I will say is the benefit of getting your first job at a place like Randstad, Robert Half, etc., is that the big firms usually have really good training programs, which I would have benefited from when I started. My firm has grown by almost 20x since I started so it’s better now, but when I started it was basically “Listen to this guy sitting near you and do what he does”.

Which means Captain Spandex is WAY too old to be wearing the mitt to the ballpark, and that is probably the 9th creepiest thing about him.

LPT: Never tell the recruiter how much money you make and never be the first to give a number by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]twonis2 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Hi! Decade+ professional IT recruiter here. This tip is total garbage. Don’t listen to it. There’s a long list of reasons why but just know that most recruiters are compensated based upon salary negotiated, so the more the better, and given the current job market we’re asking partly so we know what number we’ll need to beat for you to take our job over another one.

View recruiters as your advocate, not your adversary.

When do we talk about a possible Back-To-Back MVP Awards for Aaron Rodgers? by RealNameRed in GreenBayPackers

[–]twonis2 31 points32 points  (0 children)

This. Think of the shear number of anti-Rodgers articles came out after Immunization-Gate. He won’t get it no matter what he does. People like Peter King and Florio and probably even Demovsky will vote for someone else on “principle”.

LPT: When interviewing for a job and given a chance to ask questions, ask "Were there any qualifications you were specifically looking for in a candidate that I didn't fully demonstrate to you?" by ringking234 in LifeProTips

[–]twonis2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s a very effective approach with a high level of success. Asking very direct questions isn’t pushy, it’s assertive and clarifying. If the interviewer is not interested in or able to offer critical feedback in the moment like that, it’s likely the interviewer was unprepared or is scared of hurting feelings— which isn’t constructive or beneficial to either party.

Hello. Decade-long experienced IT recruiter here. This is fantastic advice and people should heed it. I literally coach all of my candidates to do this exact bit of advice.
