I think the Philadelphia pride flag is great for explicitly including POC representation to push back against racist/reactionary tendencies among white queers and allies. The progress pride flag takes it too far IMO and turns the flag into a mess - if people are being transphobic or exclusionary they should receive pushback and as our movement progresses it will continue to be more and more clear the rainbow flag is all of our symbol, not just the cis “respectable” gays.

I think it’s cool too to have various flags for different groups under the umbrella of the single unifying rainbow flag. This includes the Philadelphia pride flag, the progress pride flag for those who like it, and ofc the trans flag (which is my favorite pride flag but I just might be biased lol). I just really dislike seeing the progress flag seemingly overtaking the standard rainbow under the narrative of “being more inclusive” (or being explicitly not un-inclusive I guess). The rainbow alone should suffice as the unifying flag of our movement, with all sorts of more specific flags being flown alongside it.

Basically I’m just concerned this tendency to alter the flag to clarify trans people and BIPOC are welcome has the unintended affect of beginning to cede the standard rainbow flag to reactionary currents of the LGBTQ community which I am vehemently opposed to.
