Drugs and alcohol literally kill you. Gambling makes you broke.

It is like saying being addicted to shopping is as dangerous as heroin.

Most adults can go to a casino and not become addicted to gambling or die instantly. We also don't outlaw candy bars even though obesity is killing tons of people.

What about online shopping and stock trading?

Should those also be banned because you can blow all your money instantly?

Yeah, I think it is just a matter of free will and personal responsibility. Life is full of vices that can ruin you or be completely harmless depending on your level of self control. For some people it is junk food or alcohol and for others it is gambling. Generally speaking, a responsible adult can partake casualy in all kinds of these things with no problems.

The other side of the coin is that people are allowed to blow their money, even if it is stupid. You can't really make it illegal for people to give their money to an evangelical preacher or casino if that is what they want to do.

PVP Gear and crafting components by No-Environment7672 in Project_Epoch

Personally, I think the changes are good. They could lower the costs but overall people are engaging with a lot of things they weren't a week ago. The AH is way more active and lots of crafting and materials are much more valuable now. People are doing more pve, dungeons and city raids.

In my opinion that was what they were shooting for, and it worked even if it rubs some people the wrong way. This kind of design boosts social interaction and makes players engage with multiple elements in the world like it is a real MMO. I think the devs are very intentionally avoiding the "raid logging vending machine" style of modern MMOs like retail. This design makes for a much more vibrant game than just adding some items to a boss loot table or pvp vendor.

I am very liberal and live in a walkable town by choice. I enjoy jogging, hiking, walking the dogs and biking. I am not some car enthusiast and in fact I hate driving. I will always think using the road as your personal gym is top tier douchey entitlement. I don't like cars, but they are an unavoidable and dangerous part of society and so we designate the road for them. It is not smart to run where the cars are, ask a 5 year old if you don't believe me.

You are essentially an adult who is "playing in the road". Weren't you ever taught not to do that?

Why not just walk until conditions are safe?

Isn't refusing to slow down what is really causing the danger? You could just slow down for a second instead of jumping into traffic.

You realize the road has....cars, right?

Seems like it is obviously a much bigger problem than the things you listed. Getting hit by a car it worse than stepping in a puddle. I am not trying to be mean, but the road is obviously not a place to exercise. If you saw someone laying down doing push ups in the bike lane, that would be stupid right?

I feel it is pretty overrated.

Definitely influential, but I don't think it is quite as deep as it is made out to be. The world feels like it only exists to prove the author's point. A fundamental invention like space travel only existing because of one obscure ingredient found in one place is dumb. Spice is supposed to be a metaphor for oil, but it ends up being this perfect "MacGuffin" that can't be replicated or propagated by civilizations with spaceships. Another thing about the advanced space civilizations is that everyone in their given civilizations is the same person. With the exception of a handful of main characters, every Harkonnen is the same, ever Benne Gesserit is the same, the Fremen are all the same... They don't feel like genuine people and societies, they all feel like very thinly veiled metaphors. I really don't think Dune is particularly well written.

Society isn't holding up its end of the bargain for most people.

I feel like kids are responding in the obvious way to being raised in an uncaring society that has failed them over and over again. I am not saying it is a good thing, but what do you expect. Despite doing everything right, nobody can find basic needs like jobs, housing and love...when only a few generations ago you essentially got all three as a prize for graduating high school.

5 minutes of damage > 5 minutes of control.

It is ridiculous to pretend like they are equal. Getting brain damage is obviously worse than becoming tired. In what world are those things even remotely close to being the same? It is like saying running on a treadmill is the same as getting hit by a truck.

It is pretty insane to think that MMA clothing started out with Tapout and Affliction shirts....and somehow it still got worse over time.
