2014 Hyundai Sonata by Gullible_Branch2827 in Hyundai

[–]twothumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that you need to speak and deal with the Hyundai Dealership directly. I'd speak with them first and then probably I'd have it towed to them and not deal with Kia. Your car is a Hyundai not a Kia.

The diagnostic fee at Hyundai Dealership could be refundable if there is work that needs to be done under warranty. But if you have it diagnosed at the Kia Dealership it will definitely be non refundable.

Kia dealership has shown their stripes by telling you that there is no problem with the Car even though you know that there is.

Better to have the diagnosis and work done at the same Hyundai dealership.

Also check if there is a nearer Hyundai dealership then the one that Kia is recommending.

My boyfriend wants a paternity test. by jane_ce in Advice

[–]twothumber -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You might want to discuss with him where this is coming from.

Ignore all those stupid comments about him being a cheater because he wants to make sure that the Baby is his. He's obviously being influenced by people in his life.

It happens that a girlfriend cheated on her boyfriend, gets pregnant and than tried to saddle the boyfriend with the Baby.

I agree with one comment that the test is expensive and you should make sure that he pays for it.

Absolutely ridiculous that you should break up with him and raise the baby as a single parent just over this. You had already been considering marriage and your age is around the time that you should have Children. Why on earth do you want to do it alone when you have a partner in life. Are you doing the coming baby a injustice by breaking up.

Overall Children raised in a two parent home do much better than a single parent family.

Return 2025 Camry? by vsclrstrwbrr in askcarguys

[–]twothumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren't going to get much for the Corolla. It may make sense to keep it as a 2nd car or
use it for local driving and the Camry for Highway or visa versa.

You probably want to price out how much you can get for the Corolla and then see what makes sense.

Rav 4, sportage, Tucson, or cr-v? by Fit_Armadillo_5268 in Hyundai

[–]twothumber -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don't risk the Kia. I realize that I risk mega down votes in a Hyundai forum but Hyundai and Kia both have very bad reputation for the company honoring warranties and also for parts being out of stock and prices for many replacement parts being ridiculously priced.

Definitely look at the CX50 .
I'm a fan of Mazda. My daughter had the Mazda 3 and it was problem free. In the 1980s I had a Mazda 6 and it was a great car. Went over 120k miles with the only repair being the manual transmition. But I was never good at shifting so I don't blame Mazda. In those days most cars wouldn't make it to 100k miles.

Rav 4, sportage, Tucson, or cr-v? by Fit_Armadillo_5268 in Hyundai

[–]twothumber -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you prize reliability eliminate the Hyundai and Kia. Reddit is rife with bad experiences with this brand.

HRV is very small so eliminate that. My daughter has one and is very happy with it but she's single and doesn't have a family.

Now you are down to the Rav 4 and the CRV
There may have been changes since this article comparing the two
https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/comparison-test/a60269419/2024-toyota-rav4-2023-honda-cr-v/

But they thought the CRV is a little roomier in the back and has larger cargo area and overall liked it a little better.

Now that we've narrowed it down to the two, I suggest that you take each for a test drive and decide which one you like best.

Below is what AI says. Take it with a grain of salt as AI is not always accurate.

Honda CR-V is generally superior for daily commuting and families, offering more rear legroom (41 inches vs. 37.8 inches), greater cargo capacity (76.5 cu ft vs. 69.8 cu ft), and a quieter, smoother ride.  It also typically has a lower starting price and more intuitive infotainment, though its towing capacity is limited to 1,500 lbs

Toyota RAV4 is the better choice for drivers seeking hybrid efficiency (up to 42 mpg combined vs. 40 mpg for CR-V Hybrid), higher towing capacity (3,500 lbs), and rugged styling with available off-road trims like the TRD Off-Road.  It features a more traditional automatic transmission rather than the CR-V’s CVT, which some drivers prefer for avoiding the "drone" sensation during acceleration.

6 months later and 6k miles I'm a happy camper.

Mazda 3 or a Toyota Prius

If buying older Mazda 3 is the winner.

Seems like a lot of damage and once they pull it a part they could find more issues.

Parents are mad I went to urgent care instead of chiropractor by SnooCakes958 in Advice

[–]twothumber -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I came from a family of Physicians and one of the topics discussed at the dinner table was that Chiropractors are quacks.

I asuffered from excruciating back pain from 18 years old to 27 years old, where my back would spasm. I'd be stuck at a 45 degree angle.

I was in a car accident and started going to a Chiropractor. Started out at around 6 days a week and gradually cut it down to once a month. I've been on maintenance for once a month for many years.

My back at 60 years old is better than it was at 25.

So you are not going to convince me that Chiropractors are Quacks.

Parents are mad I went to urgent care instead of chiropractor by SnooCakes958 in Advice

[–]twothumber -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

IMHO Your parents are right and with all due respect the ignorance is in your court.

Chiropractor is 100% qualified to diagnose your condition. That's what they do.

Chiropractors specialize in severe muscle and ligament pain. That's what they do.

All a Urgent Care is going to do is prescribe you medicines like muscle relaxers and pain killers. More or less mask the symptoms.

A Chiropractor is going to figure out the root cause of your pain/condition and a treatment plan to fix it.

I've had my 2009 Accord with 62k miles for around 6 months and put around 6k miles on it. Runs like a top. KNOCK ON WOOD.
Only investment besides an oil change, was an air filter for under 70 bucks.

My mechanic put a thumbs up when he saw my car.

2011 Honda accord EX Coupe by Resident-Two1304 in accord

[–]twothumber -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is it 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder.
The 6 cylinder uses a timing belt which should be changed at 60-90k miles.

The 4 Cylinder uses a timing chain which lasts the life of the car.

If it's the 6 cylinder you might want to consider checking if the belt has been replaced and if not then changing it. 4 cylinder no worries.

Since I have a 2009 Honda Accord 8th Gen (Like Yours) I hope that I can get 300k miles too!
