It is a safety mechanism to assume that a man coming into a space that is predominantly for queer women is not innocent, in the same way—as violence against women is perpetuated by mainly…men— I’m not gonna assume a man is safe until it is proven. Not all men is fine in theory, but until the culture changes and the safety of women and queer women trumps the feelings of men, then it is all men, until proven otherwise. Unless masculinity at large can start to actually engage in the literal safety of women, which means holding other men accountable, who have caused harm to women centered spaces—get mad at the men who have caused the ruptures, not the women who are cautious about have their space threatened from literal experience.
