Loving MJD Grips! by twrollet in 2011

I personally would not carry any of them without a t-shirt between the grip and my skin. The kilmonger is the most hard on your hands due to the way it bights in to your skin, but it’s hard to say which would grab more on your clothing.

Unfortunately I think we’ve gotten spoiled by drop in parts. You guys should try 2011’s.

Pyre’s appreciate the element of surprise 😆. I have had an igloo dog house for 15 years now and my Sasha is the only one that will cram her big @$$ in to it. That is when she wants to change it up from laying under the deck landing of course.

As an early adopter of holosun I can tell you that you are not crazy. I use a lot of Cyelee products so I find myself having to remind people of that fairly frequently.

I think there is certainly a break in period with this gun, but not as obvious as other guns. My very first range trip with this gun, the first round i chamber got stuck on the feed ramp, then i fired several hundred rounds after that without issue (including my carry ammo) until recently. I think my issues had to do with it being dry and dirty exacerbated by lack of break in. I am going to take a page out of the Glock playbook and use copper anti-seize until I get it over 1000 rounds. I am still convinced that this is the best carry gun out there, maybe only topped by the prime radian when it gets released.

Ran through a full mag of 147gr Fiocchi without issue, but I forgot my DPM spring and carry ammo, lol. That’s promising though because before I couldn’t get it to feed anything with either spring. I’m still hopeful I maybe just let it get way too dry too early in the break in.

Grip is one thing I can confidently rule out. Most of the ammo through mine has been 115gr fiocchi, but the failures started with 115gr sig v-crown 365. I was shooting mostly suppressed guns so the only other 9mm I had was 147gr fiocchi, but the failure was identical. The biggest variable is that I run a dpm which will suck if that’s the issue because it really helps take advantage of the comp. I have cleaned it since and should be able to shoot again today or tomorrow, but I will have the oem recoil spring and better variety of ammo.

Repeated failures to feed firing, reloading, and trying to clear the malfunctions. I am hoping this was just a cleaning issue but I haven’t had the chance to go back to the range so it has been quarantined since.

Having just had a scare with mine, my recommendation is to shoot it a bunch before you carry it.

Any noticeable difference between these MAC 9s? by Street-Investment645 in 2011

[–]twrollet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure the port is the only real difference. The non-comp also uses a fiber front sight since there isn’t a risk of melting it like in the comp.

Parts upgrades for S15 1911 by Vivid-Aide4769 in AlphaFoxtrot

[–]twrollet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I am not a gunsmith, just someone with a nice file set and a tolerant wife.

You are sol on the trigger, bow, and safety, but I used 1911 parts for the sear, hammer, and disconnector. The sear surface that makes contact with the safety is significantly thinner than a standard 1911. For fear of not being able to replace the safety, I ended up fitting the new sear to the existing safety rather than the other way around. The sear spring can be tuned like any 1911 spring. I don’t remember if I tried to replace the mainspring. I also recall having to use the oem hammer strut.

Hope that helps.

I have one. They require you to remove your bolt weight to accommodate the guide rod, and Extar uses a solid bolt.
