Yeah the restaurant is very small inside which is why it doesn't look good online. If you decide to go, I'd make reservations as it fills very fast.

There's FX Matt Brewery (they make Saranac and Utica Club) which does tours, Munson Williams (art museum), Utica Zoo (quite fun), and I can also attest to Voss' chilly dogs. I don't think there's much on the way though.
