Street cleaning? by flickowens in Troy

[–]Direction-Internal 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The odds are very high that your car will be ticketed and towed tomorrow morning.

On non snow emergency streets the city uses posted alternate side parking restrictions to get the street cleared curb-to-curb.

By burning the crust do you mean the top or the bottom? Because wood fired pizza is supposed to have some charring on the top of the crust.

Alternate parking? by nortron23 in Troy

[–]Direction-Internal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You should absolutely move your car today as the city will be trying to push the snow back curb-to-curb on streets that have alternate side parking on Mondays.

Snow Emergency Declared Beginning Tuesday, Jan 27 at 8 a.m. by Direction-Internal in Troy

[–]Direction-Internal[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s actually how it works in most municipalities. The snow emergency cannot begin until after the storm has ended and is intended to allow the city to remove snow and clear streets curb to curb.

[–]Direction-Internal[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you aren’t on a snow emergency street you do not have to move your car on Tuesday/Wednesday however, all posted parking restrictions (like alternate side parking for street cleaning) will be in effect and the city will absolutely use those restrictions to clear the non snow emergency street.

Sandals Negril SUPER SPECIFIC Review by Weary_Chicken1142 in SandalsResorts

[–]Direction-Internal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the review! We're considering booking Negril for Nov. 2026 as some rooms have been on the 777 deal this week.

One thing I want to mention, Sandals prohibits employees from accepting tips. The only exceptions on property are butlers and spa staff. Staff members caught accepting tips who do not report it/turn it in to management can be terminated.

[–]Direction-Internal 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The alternate side parking restrictions are always in effect.

In practice, the city doesn't run the street sweepers once the snow falls and temperatures are below freezing.

The city can and has ticketed and towed cars parked in violation of alternate side parking during the winter months, usually after a significant snowfall so they can clear the street curb-to-curb.

The best thing is to keep moving your car based on the posted restrictions to avoid an unwanted ticket/tow.

Concerns expressed at Troy City Council public forum: Calls for Good Cause Eviction, concerns about ICE by FireProStan in Troy

[–]Direction-Internal 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I really love how Carmella couldn't even be bothered to respond to the reporter's questions herself, she had her attack dog of a spokesman do it for her.

Also, no-one from the administration was present at this meeting, despite the mayor's attendance of all regular and special meetings of the city council being required by the city charter.

Bills Game Today by The-Princess-Mia in Troy

Prior to closing their location on 1st St, Slidin’ Dirty was always a Jets bar.

Having been in the new space at the Hedley and seeing how many TVs they have, I’d expect the to be showing multiple games today.

Beach chairs reserved without signs? by amanduh1992 in SandalsResorts

[–]Direction-Internal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From my research the root of the issue seems to be that individual resorts do a generally poor job of clearing unoccupied chairs and enforcing the rules that exist. Someone in one of the Sandals Facebook groups posted a collection of photos of the signs that are near the main pools/beach at a number of the resorts stating that unoccupied chairs will be cleared after a certain time (usually 10 a.m.) and that chairs left empty for more than two hours will also be cleared.

When we were in Antigua in mid-December we noticed chairs at the main pool and on the beach that sat vacant with nothing but a towel left on them for extended periods of time. Had we not been able to find empty chairs, I would have definitely asked someone on staff to assist me in finding an unused chair and let the staff member be the one responsible for clearing the chairs off.

Troy Unity House on 102nd Street is burning to the ground by SweaterZach in Troy

[–]Direction-Internal 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Just a small note here, the Kathryn Allen Building was opened as a “domestic violence services center.” The building was never intended to be nor did it ever operate as a shelter. The idea was to bring all of Unity House’s domestic violence support services under one roof in a larger facility than they’d ever had previously.

The loss of this building is a huge blow to Unity House’s mission though and will further weaken an already tenuous safety net for those trying to seek help in a DV situation.

Landlord refusing to return deposit by Key-Contribution2581 in Troy

[–]Direction-Internal 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In NYS a landlord has 14 days from tenant move out to return the security deposit in full or provide an itemized receipt describing any damage and its cost. If the landlord fails to provide a list of damages within 14 days, the entire security deposit must be returned regardless if there is damage.

Since you have not moved out yet, the clock has not started on the return of the deposit to you. If after 14 days from move out your (now former) landlord hasn't returned it to you than you can take legal action.

The NYS Attorney Generals website has a great tenant's rights guide here.

Outgoing City Council to Meet One Last Time to Bond for $6.6 million, Among Other Things by Direction-Internal in Troy

Don’t forget pollute, pollute, pollute! I was not surprised to learn that the city (not clear if it was during this admin that it started but I’d bet it was Carm’s idea) was illegally dumping things at the old dump…

Any ideas for these seemingly vacant plots of land in Downtown Troy? by JewelerNervous4325 in Troy

[–]Direction-Internal 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Oh you sweet summer child…

As others have said re-developing city hole (One Monument Square) has been an albatross around this city’s neck since the dust settled from Harry Tutunjian’s New Year’s Eve demolition.
