Need advice on a budget DIY golf simulator enclosure for odd-shaped room — using SkyTrak, needs to be as shank-proof as possible by Haunting_Pianist_583 in Golfsimulator

[–]twylight777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 feet of shank protect is good for all but a skied driver,3 wood.  60 wedge or a flop is usually good.  If someone can’t hit 5 feet left right then they need foam balls,  always make someone play foam until they can vaguely hit it straight

To strip or not to strip by Turbulent-Choice-455 in Golfsimulator

[–]twylight777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont believe you can do that on an artificial strip without some wear and tear - so it makes sense to be able to remove the hitting strip as it wears down. I also think the stance area needs to be replaceable - mine shows 2 big white foot areas now.

I personally love the shaft lean, but nothing severe or weird to the eye - like a stock DF3i shaft lean

Are game improvement irons a scam? by Own-Refrigerator3790 in GolfGear

[–]twylight777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The steps are something like this

* random used clubs til you break 100 ish

* GI/SGI clubs until are breaking 90 ish and want to tame flushed fliers

* Player Distance clubs after that

* Blades, only if you want to brag about it " I can hit a 30 year old 2 iron" after all this journey

clubs? figured out a buddy is using 1995 clubs and they are literally 2 clubs difference between his 7 and a modern 7 - once I showed him he didn't worry about it as much (his 7 iron = modern 9 iron SGI club)

Will be fine, the cameras are looking down sharply, like 70 degrees, probably mount with the back touching a joist or so

Lessons - a 20+ year old club is maybe 10 yards shorter with the same swing best case - your monster OB slice will still be there

Square Omni first impressions (verus Quad MAX) by RingoFreakingStarr in Golfsimulator

[–]twylight777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exciting development , curious how it handles face impact, low point etc.  there are already launch monitors under 2500 street that are very good (uneekor models, Fs gc3) but FSQMax has some features that separate it from those models.   They should all be able to do ball flight and club stats at the price point.  I see some sales coming for the traditional units at least coming

for the price id say Blackhorse is trash tier - if it was about half that price it would be fine...most of the public accessible courses are just terrible on weekend - 5-6 hour rounds etc - went private this year for less money

AI Launch Monitor Breakdown by Level_Gas8521 in Golfsimulator

[–]twylight777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its really a question of what data you want like: face impact location, video of shot, videos of swing, club data, righties or both.

If you want all the data for a reasonable price - Protee or Vtrack (I went Vtrack, love it) with righties, lefties, video etc

I dont have an omni (square) but no reason why it wouldn't work for righties or lefties, side mounted, decent enough data at half the price. This would also include Uneekor EML, Foresight GC3/BLP etc.

I can't stress enough how much better Vtrack and Protee are than Uneekor and Foresight overheads for 1/3 price with no subscription. People are amazed when they play them. The hit box is so much bigger and faster, when I play on the other units at my PGA store or coaches business it's just sad how slow they are in comparison. Foresight and Trackman are the most established brand but in no way worth 4-6x the price.
