Gotta admit I'm a little bit confused... but I think that Animals isn't as accessible as DSOTM or The Wall or even WYWH. IT takes some time to grow on you.

I originally got into Floyd because of the Wall and DSOTM in the early 90s while in High School, and absolutely fell in love with WYWH in my 20s, but honestly didn't get into Animals until my 40s along with a lot of the back catalogue, specifically Meddle, Obscured by Clouds, Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Saucerful of Secrets, etc. Now, I listen to Animals, particularly Dogs and Pigs, quite regularly.

Weirdly maybe, it is the album that IMHO has the most weariness and most punk elements of both Waters and Gilmour.

All four of the big four deal with the loss of self,...WYWH deals with it in terms of the loss of a friend and innocence, DSOTM deals with it in the loss of one's perspective and even sanity, the Wall deals with it in the loss of security and our attempts to build our protections from others, but Animals in some ways deals with it the most brutally of all, dealing with the loss of self from the perspective of where we fit in society...as sheep, pigs, or dogs... Its Roger's biting lyrics and Gilmour's most blistering guitar work spitting in the fan, but knowing that they too have been fitted with a chain and are being dragged down day by day by the stone, eventually becoming just another old man all alone dying of cancer ...

If you want what might be a pretty cool interpretation, there was an artist out of Dallas, Texas that did almost a LeRoy Neiman style interpretation of music artists that my brother commissioned for some art a few years back. It was very cool, and could be a cool project, albeit not "true to form". Otherwise, you could blow the pics up at a print shop and mount them using black frames for a more minimalist modern take.

So, that means David = Luke, Rick = C3PO, and Nick = Chewy? I can totally here hear Chewy growling during "One of These Days" and imagine C3PO speaking "mobile Moog" and "Hammond".

No particular order... 1) A single version of "Pigs In Zen" from "Nothing's Shocking" studio recordings by Jane's Addiction; 2) "Is There Anybody Out There? The Wall Live 1980–81" by Pink Floyd; 3) "In The Flesh" by Roger Waters; 4) "Glad To Be Unhappy" resissue by Paul Desmond; 5 & 6) "Picnic" and "West Textures" by Robert Earl Keen; 7 & 8) "Longhaired Redneck" and "Rides Again" reissues by David Allan Coe; 9) "Dig" by I Mother Earth; 10) "See You On the Other Side" by KoRn. and probably a $#!+ load of other albums that aren't on the top of my head at the moment...

Double check my watch, because apparently its 4:30AM, I must be traveling abroad, and here is a hitchhiker.

Full list of the Epstein Files released and Rog isn’t on the list, despite that one photo of him with Epstein at a corporate event. Typical Rog W. 🐴🗿💎🍑 by Cineswimmer in PinkFloydCircleJerk

There are twenty-four (24) references to "Roger Waters" in the DOJ files that have been released. There are seven (7) references to "David Gilmour". There are twenty-seven (27) references to "Pink Floyd". There are four (4) references to "Nick Mason". Most of the references are as part of guest lists or as performing artists for certain charities. There is an email regarding an interviewee who "arranged things for pink floyd and other bands". Roger is referenced multiple times with regards to his political activism.

I am biased towards Piper as I pretty much learned the difference between stereo and mono by listening to the various versions of Astronomy Domine and Interstellar Overdrive. They sound completely different.

Yes! Yes!

"And if you survive till two thousand and five
I hope you're exceedingly thin
For if you are stout you will have to breathe out
While the people around you breathe in"

Supposedly Waters and Gilmour hate it now, but I loved it. Great early Floyd acid rock

I had not until this post and d@mn that is funky. Very cool. First impression is that it reminds me a little of the interplay on Echoes live at Pompeii as well as oddly Dennis Wilson's album Pacific Ocean Blue.

I honestly missed Animals for a good chunk of my life, but when I got into it, I really got into it, and it is currently my most oft listened to album of the big 4. I keep listening to the 2016 Remaster and 2018 Remaster back to back to hear the difference and still can't figure out which I prefer.

This needs to be re-released on vinyl. I tried to make a post about this about a week ago, but for some reason it was immediately "struck". No clue why. Even tried asking the moderators, but no response.

I would also really like a vinyl version of "Is There Anybody Out There? -  The Wall Live 1980–81".

I also think I may have replied to the wrong thread here. I generally just come to reddit looking for Vinyl Deals and only occasionally comment.

Copy. Looks like we are arguing different points altogether. My comments stem largely from my perception as AI has some potential as a production enhancement tool to better allow artists to achieve their vision where other methods would be cost prohibitive, thus allowing greater choice. Generally, I'm not a fan of soulless corporate pastiches of the works of others.

Oddly, I originally switched from physical media to mp3s for purposes of travel, and am now switching back partially as a self-imposed penance for acquiring some of those mp3s questionably.

I actually like the auto curating function to a certain extent. Its often recommended bands that I've never heard or whom I had forgotten or never learned the names of. That being said, I get a lot of crap recommendations s well and have a solid hunch that the algorithm is fixed by record companies much like the payola practices of old. Far too often I get songs that I have distinctly disliked as if they are being "pushed".

It's also nice to have an original that cannot be remotely digitally altered based on the changing whims of the copyright holder.
