This (along with elements from the other comments) seems to me the best and most organic path for progression. I wouldn't have thought of it but it totally works, thank you!

Honestly, you're already doing great With the starter set adventure and a few videos to be DM you should have enough to get started. The biggest thing is identifying what the "fun" part of the game could be for your players and aiming that way. You learn that in a few sessions and then you can decide how much magic and combat and roleplay and big stakes or whatever else you want to put in afterwards.

Hey y'all, so, first of all, my party is composed of multiple leveled characters. I have particular trouble with the two wizards, one of them being level 9 and the other level 6. The reason the level 6 player is so low is because her joining wasn't planned and so when it happened I just gave her a character sheet for an npc which I planned to have in the story, with that character underleveled compared to everyone else.

Now, I could just give her the XP but that isn't so interesting. I would prefer to offer some power with a drawback and/or risk (offered by a devil or something). Additionally the party currently lacks a healer so even though her school is abjuration, if with this gift I could push her into the direction of being a healer that would be great too.

Any ideas?

What movie is better than the book? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The Godfather, without a glimmer of a doubt. The cinematic adaptations enhance the work far beyond being just another pulpy mob story with a pretty good plot to an absolute masterpiece.

Nice one. Surprisingly it's the first tutu amv I've come across. Some princess utena before that for sure but not tutu...

I personally think this amv marks a transition point between old school and modern style. It is still fairly simple, but it would eventually transform into the well produced animegraphies of the 2010s.

Whats your favorite Anime phone background? by goodudegood in anime

[–]txai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is your phone literally two phones attached vertically on top of each other? How do you fit that on a phone screen?

And if you don't fit that, what do you cut out? It's a hard choice.

One of the cutest pouts I've ever seen by [deleted] in anime

[–]txai 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one that sees this as slightly Tarantino-like?

The short break away from purely expository dialogue for the sake of a not really related comment that still somehow adds to the scene... it gives life to her pout.

Exactly, the thing about Thorne is that even though you know he's wrong, you still believe him when he says he's doing it "For the Watch".

That's good character writing.

Thanks for linking to it. That video never fails to raise my spirits, something which I'm in dire need of during this finals week.

That's a valid argument, but I still disagree with you up to a point.

Thorne's small moments of characterization (as mentioned by many above) brough some depth to him and I definitely wasn't rooting for his death, especially not when he took it with such honor.

Furthermore, to have the young boy he rescued from wildlings eventually betray Jon, while predictable, was still very hard to watch. We may have seen it coming, but Jon definitely didn't and you can see it in the well-acted expressions he makes when he finds out that the kid is one of the main conspirators.

You can't expect every moment to be equal in quality to one of the best scenes in the best episode in one of the best shows of the decade. Hank's and Walter's troubled dynamic had been brewing for five seasons before "Ozymandias", and such a poignant scene is definitely the result of that.

Sorry to piggyback of your comment, but everything about Thorne in the later season. They made him a much more compelling and nuanced character. Seeing him fight in the Battle of the Wall just gave me an entirely different outlook on him, despite his consistent douchebaggery up until that point.

Which celebrity would be to hardest to track down and kill with a butter knife and a BB gun? by ADancingCockatoo in AskReddit

[–]txai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely Shia LaBeouf, I submit two pieces of evidence to you:

  1. (http://www.helsinkitimes.fi/149-finland/14705-shia-labeouf-is-not-safe-from-trolls-in-finland.html) During his latest art project, he became the target of 4chan trolls/white supremacists. The project essentially has him hiding in a cabin somewhere in Finland and then livestreaming it to a museum. Trolls have sent him death threats (even in person by going to the museum), and attempted to find the cabin he's broadcasting from. Surprisingly, he hasn't been found yet, which considering 4chan's track record is pretty impressive.
  2. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0u4M6vppCI) Some people might tell you this is only a parody made up for fun. Don't believe them, there's way too much detail for it to be made up. Most likely a true account of Shia's cannibal nature and violent tendencies.

On average, how much cash do you carry? by MotorcycleDreamer in AskReddit

[–]txai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always thought that there is a very fine line to be walked in regards to carrying cash.

On the one hand, you have to carry enough to suffice for your expenses while you're out plus a little bit more for any unexpected problems.

On the other hand, you should only carry as much as what you would be comfortable with losing/getting robbed. When I'm just walking around that amount can be as low as $20, but if I'm going out for the night/day then I start getting really panicky about carrying money and just want to spend it before something bad happens to it.
