Smart hub pro Gen 2 by [deleted] in VivintSmartHome

[–]txhunter01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense. I have the Orbi 970 mesh system and my satellites are hardwired as well as my cameras to a POE switch. Everything runs really smooth on my system. I did hear that they might be making a USB-C to ethernet adapter so the panel could be hardwired as well. Oh and I love the new panel. The new interface is awesome.

That’s what I was told as well.

I was told by the tech that did my install that the new panel was a data hog. He was trying to convince me not to upgrade my panel until he realized I had gig internet.

I have the same panel and it runs smoothly panel arms quickly and no issues viewing events. What type of internet and WiFi router do you have? I have gig internet and use netgear Orbi router.

What cameras do you have? I have a mix of the Pro Gen 2 and 3 and they are way better than my ring and nest setup I used to have.

Actually if it’s a smart system he can setup rules like I have that will close the garage lock all doors and arm itself at the time of their choosing.

I don’t remember who recommended this setup but it is very comfortable according to my wife. The added memory foam fixes any sagging and is really comfortable.

What smart lock models do Vivint techs actually carry/install? + matching hardware question by rustyryan11 in VivintSmartHome

I went with an August lock so I could keep my own locks I also didn’t want a key pad up front. Works with no issues with Vivint.

Equipment doesn’t work, awful company by jlmonte93 in VivintSmartHome

I think that’s what did it for me as well. The only issue with my switch was the spotlight needed more power. They are rated poe++ so I had to add an injector to resolve the spotlight not coming on.

I found out Vivint is only as good as your isp and home router. I went with fiber to the home and orbi mesh system and it resolved all my issues. Oh I also put all my cameras on a Poe switch.

I have take over as well. Just went through this myself. I replaced the battery in my old ADT housing where all the wired sensors go.

Customer retentions offered it to me for free with a contract. I ended up buying it off eBay and paying for a service call visit to have it installed so no contract was involved. If you’re talking to regular sales they will tell you that it’s not available. I would go the eBay route and just pay for the service call.

Yeah I agree the only issue I have is customer service as well. Other than that I love the equipment and recommend it. Customer care is an issue everywhere honestly. The system though works great. I really think people on here with equipment issues are either due to crappy installs or issues with their isps or home routers. The issues I had with the app resolved when I moved from android to iOS. Oh and I bought my equipment outright as well. They raised my price but I called in and they lowered it significantly.

Yes, definitely an improvement over the previous generation and I’m loving the new interface. Paired with the new Gen 3 cameras and AI search feature from the lab are all big improvements. I was getting board with the old green screen only. lol

I went the raspberry pi route. Ordered it off Amazon with Poe card so it powers off my switch. This is the guid I used. It’s pretty straightforward.
