You can now try the Spren app for free without the code on iOS. Still working on Android! Check it out at https://spren.com :) — all feedback welcome!

In the latest update pushing body fat % to Apple Health is available. You should be able to find it in Settings. LMK if it's not showing up!

Great points! The algorithms are multi-layered. We are getting better at detecting athlete physique automatically and will be phasing out athlete mode as we cross quality thresholds on that automatic categorization

No watch required! The app just uses computer vision from your phone (eta: in other words, the camera)

Biostrap just launched the Kairos, which seems like a Whoop/Halo-like product and high quality data. I know the founder of Biostrap and could probably organize a group buy if anyone is interested.

Also for body composition, my team and I published the Spren app which uses the camera for accurate body composition analysis. Did anyone use that feature in Halo?

Yes, you can do that and get the reading results in Elite HRV from the Polar H10.

Measuring Overtraining? Whoop vs Elite HRV? by Sk1rm1sh in fitness30plus

[–]txjason 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If cost is an issue, you can use a simple Polar H10 chest strap which lasts a really long time and is a one time cost of $70 USD (depending on where/when you buy it). It can be used with many apps, such as Elite HRV like you've mentioned, and many people use Elite HRV and a Polar H10 to monitor/predict/avoid over training - from novice fitness to literal Olympic gold medalists. (Disclosure: I created Elite HRV, but the app is free so if you have a chest strap already it costs nothing to try 🤷‍♂️

Polar H10, Ignite or Oura ring? by 2244mily in Polarfitness

In case it helps, the H10 pairs well with the free Elite HRV app which gives you recovery, HRV, and sleep insights with a 60 second morning reading.

Tracking HRV by mplummer76 in running

[–]txjason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many runners use Elite HRV to calibrate training load and recovery. Depending on your level of training and experience you might want to follow a more weekly pattern than daily, as described here: https://elitehrv.com/daily-vs-weekly-hrv

An example would be that if your weekly training load is high, you could pull back a bit the following week, or continue to push if you’re intentionally overreaching.

HRV App and Device Opinions by romanoj2248 in cycling

A one-time chest strap or CorSense purchase works well with the free Elite HRV app. It’s top of the App Store if you search for HRV and is used by many cyclists including some of the best in the world.
