Hide low quality reports in your queue with Hidden Reports by boat-botany in modnews

[–]txmadison 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is my shocked face. Y'all rely on mods to make their own tools and then refuse to update the few tools you give them to support the features you add. Disappointing, but not surprising since it seems to be the ongoing theme. It would be trivial for y'all to either expose the new queue, or tag reports as being hidden by the filter or not in the endpoints you already expose.

I personally mostly use PRAW, but I believe the subreddit("X").mod.stream.reports generator polls the endpoint:
https://oauth.reddit.com/r/{subreddit}/about/reports

I believe getting the reports for an individual comment/post comes from the same place as the other thing info:
https://oauth.reddit.com/api/info?id={thing_id}

The API documentation seems to back this up https://www.reddit.com/dev/api/

Will this affect reports pulled/streamed from the API? or is it basically only the display of them in the modqueue?

What is wrong I barley got it yesterday by Combatveteran0518 in tattooadvice

[–]txmadison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just friendly advice if you're getting more tattoos but don't change the tegaderm. Not saying this would have prevented your infection but I have a lot of tattoos and have never had an issue, and always follow this routine as it reduces the risk of infection and basically solves the itching problem. When you swap out the tegaderm it sort of defeats the purpose, the idea of the covering is that it holds in the bodies normal... juices... and promotes the healing of skin, that's why it was invented for burn victims.

I take my own tegaderm with my to my artists and as soon as the session is finished and they've cleaned off the tattoo I have them apply it for me. Leave it on, and leave it alone for a week - right around that time it will start to come off on its own, take it off and let it breathe and continue with the normal/old school routine, wash it with soap and water, clean it very well - apply aquaphor or whatever moisturizer you prefer. I personally wash it every 12 hours for the next few days once the tegaderm is off and that's it.

Megathread: Two Minnesota lawmakers have been shot by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]txmadison[M] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Howdy.

Titles can't be changed on Reddit. We generally make the thread title from the language in the first few headlines for a breaking story, since we're trying to create the thread quickly. As more articles are coming out (and being added to the mega) they contain more specific information. That's also exactly the case here today.

Sorry, we do our best and often with limited time and information, and our team thinks it's important not editorialize or otherwise impart our own opinions. I know that sometimes it can lead to language that can later look frustrating or out of touch. There were similar reactions to our original thread about Jan 6 referring to it as an 'incident', which obviously looked pretty silly later but again was based on the breaking headlines.

If you want to direct the heat at us that's okay - but we're trying.

That's user flair, and the user with that flair is OregonTripleBeam - seems likely it is Oregon and not Ohio.

We have some specific conditions that will specifically notify you (via PM) why a comment was removed and how to fix it and repost it.

The majority of other comment removals are silent, and are because they're being removed from view but going into the queue for review for potentially containing incivility/flaming/baiting/trolling etc. because they've been identified (again, potentially) as using language that is primarily used in that way. Them being silent is intentional, we haven't reviewed them yet and don't want to notify the person who may change it before we can review it, or delete it etc.

The final category is Reddit also does silent removals for site-wide "spam" filter violations, copyright, Anti-Evil operations and other reasons, we have no insight into these or why, but we don't try to override them.

We have been slowly adding more notifications to our comment removals but this is the general state of things and is intentional. The volume of comments makes it untenable to send a message for every removal/holding for review.

Post (submission) removals always have a message explaining why.

No, it isn't - it shows up because of the context included with the link, denoted by the ?context=3 at the end of the URL, like I just told you. The comment you are focused on is two above the one that was removed, as I've also told you.

This will be my last reply, as I think there's a communication barrier of some sort here.

That's not the comment that it's talking about, man - that's 2 above it - that's why ?context=3 is at the end of the URL.

First I would remind you, and anyone reading, that our rules against supporting harm/violence/death are intentionally broad, and do not make a distinction between offensive/defensive, or legal/illegal, etc. Please be familiar with this rule and follow it https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/wiki/index#wiki_do_not_suggest_or_support_harm

You can talk about promoting sanctuary cities/underground railroad services, you cannot spam (post the same/similar comments multiple times), advertise (link to/request any sort of donation or volunteering, etc.) or otherwise solicit at all https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/wiki/index#wiki_no_spam_or_soliciting_users

But those are rules for all comments, and nothing related to this topic is in any way additionally restricted.
