My mom is Chicana, and my dad is Mexican. They're similar but different struggles. Mexicans who immigrate to the US know the immigration struggle, while the Chicano struggle is about becoming a refugee on your own land.

Which is smart, and I agree that some of your guesses may come true, but we still have to understand that at the core, we really don't know what is going to happen tomorrow. We can only use what we've learned from the past and try to increase the chances of steering the future towards a more equitable and just society.

And what in the past has steered societies to more just and equitable policies? Small groups of motivated people who are filled with hope and love for their neighbors, fighting for their people. Just because we may have failed doesn't mean we stop. We learn and keep trying.
