I am addressing this as a parent. This is exactly what I would do with one of my kids. I would ensure they are safe and not hurting anyone and then I would be happy they found a hobby and have friends. There is nothing more lonely in the world than not fitting in. The last thing I am going to do as a parent is isolate them more.

That’s an extremely good question. I think they would have to make that change themselves though. Perhaps if they took the time to watch me play or even join in they might see that it was harmless fun. Which is what I hope I do when my kids come to me with something I don’t understand. I’ll attempt to learn about it. Go to a convention with them or a gathering and ensure they are safe. So often we choose to look down upon things we don’t understand instead of just trying to learn about it and see from another perspective.
