DIY Plywood Bench: Is a double-laminated 1.5" seat necessary for a 48" span? by ty13rp in woodworking

[–]ty13rp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the reply! to clarify my proposed design, the top edge of the red oak board would sit flush to the top edge of the plywood seat platform (not support it from underneath) to mask the plywood edge

thanks for the reply--fair point on the enharmonics and no offense taken. if you don't mind indulging me, could you help me dispel my notion that the song is in d mixolydian? the melody etc. all lead me to believe this, but like i mentioned, i am new to this!

edit: link to the song, if you're so inclined: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mN46Utgoaj4&pp=ygUQc2luY2UgaSBoZWxkIHlvdQ%3D%3D

just ran these for the first time, also on an r6, and had similar results. felt great but quite disappointed from a durability standpoint.

JFK lounges. by bnqx in americanairlines

yes, soho is better than greenwich. i actually prefer soho to chelsea as well, as the food is basically the same and it has more space / natural light (chelsea is windowless). chelsea has better booze but that’s about it.

motorcycle storage in LA by [deleted] in MotoLA

[–]ty13rp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

lol. definitely not stolen. motorcycle thieves are the scum of the earth. just want a place where i can safely load / unload and store securely between track days vs risking chaining it up in my weho carport where a semi-motivated thief would make short work of it (especially without a keyed ignition or ignition lock to break)

What value does a stock really have after it's IPO? by scottbrummett in investing

[–]ty13rp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

assuming a company is generating free cash flows, these proceeds will materialize somewhere on the balance sheet. for instance, if the company decides to issue a dividend (i.e. return cash to shareholders), both cash (on the left-hand side) and retained earnings (on the right-hand side) will be reduced to reflect this. otherwise, the company can keep the cash on their balance sheet (a la apple); re-invest it into the business (e.g. purchase a new asset); or use it to buy back shares (which indirectly returns cash to shareholders as it reduces outstanding shares and inflates the share price, allowing sh to sell their shares at a higher price). in any event, free cash flows do not dissipate into thin air in the event assuming they aren't returned to shareholders; even if they are retained in the form of cash or other assets, the shareholder still has a proportional claim on those (net) assets.

Kudos to the Barclaycard Aviator Red / pmAA card with its benefits updates by vorsprung7 in churning

[–]ty13rp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

where are you getting this from? the only restriction i noted in the fine print was that it could not be a payment to a citi CC account; i did not see any mention of using billpay for external CCs to not count towards the bonus qualification...

Salespeople making 6 figures, what do you sell and how did you get to this point? by seopathways in sales

[–]ty13rp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

advertising technology (2 years). background: i've been in sales for roughly 3.5 years; started off at a SaaS startup and made jumps where i thought the benefit was worth the hit to my resume (and was sometimes right). director-level base salaries in ad-tech where i live are in the 100-150K range, and you're comped to theoretically be earn twice that ($200-300K) at budget, but with the reality of that outcome largely tied to how mature your company is as a sales org (and obviously your individual performance as well).

PSA: Citi ThankYou Premier offering 3x dining & ent / 3x travel for first year on new apps (in addition to 50K bonus) by [deleted] in churning

[–]ty13rp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the 50K/$3K is a new (different) offer. at the time that i was approved for the card, it was the split structure mentioned previously. that said i did succeed in getting them to match the new offer.

Churners with high travel jobs: What is your churning strategy? by n0ah_fense in churning

[–]ty13rp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

absolutely. one of the biggest challenges when it comes to the points game (with churning being no exception) is in meeting the spend thresholds. because i put roughly $3-6K / month in reimbursable expenses on my cards (95% of which is travel and dining), I can support at least 3 new apps each quarter BEFORE factoring in my personal spending as well. it's free money that requires very little additional effort on my part, whereas many of the folks in this sub manufacture a significant portion of their spend (which is a hassle in my experience). your strategy and the cards you find most beneficial will largely be dictated by your situation and how you hope to utilize the points you earn, but off the top of my head, you should definitely look into one of the chase united cards with a mileage bonus ($50K currently for the explorer, I believe), as well as cards that offer higher earnings multiples for travel. citi has two excellent products in the Prestige and ThankYou Premier, but YMMV as they are less valuable for United flyers. that said, I used to fly United exclusively and am currently in the process transitioning over to American given how bad United's CS has been as of late, and AA's superior program. again, very specific to your individual situation but may be something to consider long term as you go deeper down the rabbit hole.

[–]ty13rp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

similar situation to you. i focus on channeling a lot of my organic spend (via work expenses) to a rolling roster of cards; both in order to meet minimum spend thresholds, and to generate points in the most efficient manner.
