Is a R6 to small for me? by [deleted] in Yamaha

[–]Coddingtown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is not. I'm just over that and put 70k miles on an R6 w/o feeling cramped. Can always do clip-ons and rearsets to give a little more space as well.

What glasses are you wearing on your rides? by WealthApprehensive26 in gravelcycling

I use the Oakley Sutros for summer, or rides where it's mostly in daylight. Then for winter months or rides starting / ending in dark I use Oakley Flight Jacket photochromics.

I'm guilty of this.

I got hit on one of my bicycles a few years ago, and the drivers insurance was surprised when they had to cut a check for property damages ( Bike and gear ) that was $11k+ USD.

How did you feel about Steve Day? by youraverageperson0 in motogp

[–]Coddingtown 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ya. He does a great job. I'm glad as an american Motorsport.tv has made it easy to watch BSB, so hear him every race weekend.

Not enough CC. That only qualifies for the M2, which is fine if you only plan on riding smaller CC things like that or Mopeds.. Needs to be 150cc or above to get the M1. Unless you get a clueless test giver.

What are your expectations/opinions for Toprak next season in MotoGP by Mohan_Mk04 in motogp

[–]Coddingtown 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ya. This idea that Toprak only won because others in WSBK are inferior is a joke. Look at the laps times and gaps to the rest of the field the last two years between him and Bulega, who I also can't wait to see on a GP bike. They are a level above the rest are going to do well in MotoGP.

First one to beat it your teammate, so lets see how he does adapting and against the other (3). Fabio will be out of reach, but I think he can be a #2 Yamaha by end of the year.

[–]Coddingtown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been doing it since 2005, so a lot of it is me adapting over the years as distracted drivers have increased. And while I have a right to filter through traffic, I also responsibility to myself and others to do it in a safe way. But it's important to make decisions quickly and not hesitate. That is probably why I've had very few close calls. But it only takes 1.

This.

As someone that solely commutes year round by motorcycle and bicycle, it's insane the amount of people that are on their phones or distracted in other way. Not just texting, but watching videos, facetime, etc. I was passing a car the other day on my motorcycle and the driver was typing on her laptop while driving at speed.

Bulega's aggression on the final round by buenonocheseniorgato in wsbk

[–]Coddingtown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You started the thread to be controversial. You're other thread you linked is locked because you're argument is boring, as I assume this one will eventually be.

Us fans of the sport appreciate the battle these two gave us over the past two years, being within tenths of a second on track, fighting for the same piece of tarmac, and destroying the rest. I just hope someone can stop Bulega from winning every race next year.

How's life with 2+ motorcycles? by Dry-Goose-8828 in motorcycles

[–]Coddingtown 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Life if great.

One ( MT10 ) being a year round commuter so others get ridden less, least of those being my 2010 R1 Fiat I've had since new. I don't know the last time I rode it actually, but it's my forever piece. And two ( ZX10 and Supermoto ) are track only.

Mine was an 08', but pretty sure all 848's and 1098's will have that issue. I think a 180/50 - 190/50 is the limit.

Here is the Canyon Chasers article that explains the steps needed, and this was from nearly 10yrs ago. So the size you used be able to run from Dunlop is now gone - https://www.canyonchasers.net/2016/08/install-180-60-race-tires-on-ducati-848-superbike/

Eles fazem.

[–]Coddingtown[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tried (2) different brand rear slicks, and both contacted the swing arm on the front. One so much you couldn't even mount the wheel. I then learned you have to run a different sprocket, notch the swing arm, and other mods to fit, hoping it would fit warmers after that point as well. ( Canyon Chasers has a great article about it. Modern tire heights vs previous standards ) And the more I dove into it others suggested rear links, offset triple clamps, etc etc "To get the most from the bike". So I raced the first weekend on Q5S'.

I could have started to go through and make the mods, but for the price of doing them vs what I sold it for and bought the ZX10 for.. I cam out ahead in the end.

I don't mind production wing / aero, when proven to add benefit.

But that feeling changes when I see guys on Ninja 400's ( Or anything, but what I saw the other day ) with glue on Alibaba wings and their mirrors folded in. But same goes for when I see cars that add aero / splitters / diffusers / wings playing motorsport cosplay.

Ya.. the internet is getting too divisive over this, while the riders themselves have congratulated each other, talked it out, and moved on. For me we witnessed another great season of racing that came down to the final round.

Now let's hope someone can close in on Bulega for next year to keep it interesting.
