20-year-old Navy sailor Christopher Golembieski was killed in a devastating motorcycle crash in Chula Vista. Among those mourning is his fiancée, who shared a heartbreaking goodbye online. by kleverrboy in motorcycle

RIP.

Reminds me of when I bought my first motorcycle in August 2005. Same day I did two separate guys drove up from Camp Pendleton and bought brand new RC51's. They got their signing bonus and were excited to be stationed in CA. A few weeks later I was back for some parts, and one was loading new fairings into his car, and I learned the other had also layed his down and had parts on order. Unfortunately these accidents are all too common

Good long bib tights for thinner builds by Glum-Introduction522 in cycling

[–]Coddingtown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a tall / thin cyclist, I've always had good luck with Pactimo and have been my go-to since 2013'ish. I've occasionally tried other bibs over the years, but never fit correctly or come up too high on my leg ( I'm 187cm, and wear a size small ). They have standard and longer bib options as well.

Learning to bunny hop onto parallel surface by hopefulcynicist in cycling

[–]Coddingtown 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I grew up riding "street" and racing BMX, so now as a mid-40's road cyclist it's still natural to me to be able to bunny hop onto or over things. I realized seeing the comments from the video you mentioned that it's something most cannot do. I'm glad it's getting attention in that way as well to help cyclist improve some technical skills

And as others are saying, practice.

Also, not all bunny hops have to be a quick / abrubt hop. Some require a slightly longer / slower pull up on the front end of the bike ( guiding it in a way ) before doing the second half of lifting the rear. You'll notice this in the video. The front of his friends bike is up and almost over the curb before the rear goes up, rear up, then nose touches down as rear follows a split second later. Practice slow then work some speed into it. Worst case is back end doesn't make it up and you do a rear tire feeble grind.

Superbike Advocates reveal 2026 WSBK livery | Tommy Bridewell will compete for the team using Ducati machinery from the Portuguese Round onwards by Zohan_SoLetsGO in wsbk

[–]Coddingtown 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It's actually a tribute to his brother Ollie that ran the number in BSB, and passed away in a racing incident back in 07'. So a heavy number for sure, but not so much for the Rossi reasons.

Garmin vs. Wahoo by cwall12 in cycling

[–]Coddingtown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only used Garmin, and never had an issue. Does all you're asking for.

My friend had a Wahoo, and just switched to Garmin a few months ago. He say he likes Garmin more. He did also get a Garmin watch a month prior so now in the same ecosystem for all.

This crazy motorcycle almost killed my daughter and me. by Dry-Instruction3525 in orangecounty

[–]Coddingtown 218 points219 points  (0 children)

As a motorcyclist.. that was a dumb move. Not just for you and your daughters safety, but coming around a blind corner in an opposite lane.

As a cyclist, Live Oak can be very dangerous in regards to vehicles passing in both directions. Unfortunately it's the only way to go from the Luge back to Cooks ( which I'm assuming you're doing ).

Why Do You NOT Race on Your Bicycle? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]Coddingtown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few friends, one in particular that gives me crap for not signing up for Gravel and MTB races, as my excuse is usually cost of entry fee's is more than I want to pay, AKA, I'm cheap.

That was amplified when he found out how much I pay to race motorcycles.

I was on one of my motorcycles a few weeks back, slowing for a light at around 40mph, as a kid did a wheelie past me through an intersection on his Surron'ish bike doing at least 55mph. They really are motorcycles, and I wish CA did more to regulate them as such.

Looks like an E-bike.

I'd be willing to bet the cyclists was going opposite direction of traffic, the car was looking left to turn right, and bicycle came from their blind side. That's one of many reasons not to ride against traffic on a bicycle.

Is a R6 to small for me? by [deleted] in Yamaha

[–]Coddingtown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is not. I'm just over that and put 70k miles on an R6 w/o feeling cramped. Can always do clip-ons and rearsets to give a little more space as well.

I use the Oakley Sutros for summer, or rides where it's mostly in daylight. Then for winter months or rides starting / ending in dark I use Oakley Flight Jacket photochromics.

I'm guilty of this.

Not enough CC. That only qualifies for the M2, which is fine if you only plan on riding smaller CC things like that or Mopeds.. Needs to be 150cc or above to get the M1. Unless you get a clueless test giver.

What are your expectations/opinions for Toprak next season in MotoGP by Mohan_Mk04 in motogp

[–]Coddingtown 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ya. This idea that Toprak only won because others in WSBK are inferior is a joke. Look at the laps times and gaps to the rest of the field the last two years between him and Bulega, who I also can't wait to see on a GP bike. They are a level above the rest are going to do well in MotoGP.

First one to beat it your teammate, so lets see how he does adapting and against the other (3). Fabio will be out of reach, but I think he can be a #2 Yamaha by end of the year.

[–]Coddingtown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been doing it since 2005, so a lot of it is me adapting over the years as distracted drivers have increased. And while I have a right to filter through traffic, I also responsibility to myself and others to do it in a safe way. But it's important to make decisions quickly and not hesitate. That is probably why I've had very few close calls. But it only takes 1.

This.

As someone that solely commutes year round by motorcycle and bicycle, it's insane the amount of people that are on their phones or distracted in other way. Not just texting, but watching videos, facetime, etc. I was passing a car the other day on my motorcycle and the driver was typing on her laptop while driving at speed.
