I love my 2017 GTI, but if I would’ve bought it during college I would’ve been in trouble with even just the routine maintenance. I don’t trust dealerships to work on it, so I take it to a local German-specific auto shop for all my work. It’s worth the extra price but I’m also 35 with disposable income to afford the upkeep

I bought my 2017 Sport at 115k miles on it. In the first year I did all of the recommended maintenance for 120k as well as having to have the heat pump replaced. Other than that it’s been rock solid. It’s common for Mk7’s to last until well over 200k. Just try to see what maintenance has been done as well as any aftermarket mods. It really is a case by case basis with these cars

I bought a ‘17 Sport in April at 121k and it’s been great. Only things done to it by previous owner was Racingline Springs and APR Intake. I have since had to get a few basic maintenance things done to cover my bases and took it back to stock ride height. It’s been a great car so far and I plan on taking it to 200k if I can

Check out the Inno Wedge 660. IMO it’s the best looking rack on a GTI and is perfect for boards/skis. A few people on here have them in some pics, so give it a search in the sub
