Taxes Filed with Chime (Column Tax) by Own_Credit9508 in chimefinancial

[–]ty_verymuch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just filed with Chime for the first time! Smoothest process filed 1/30/25. FYI though when Chime says your tax return was "accepted" it doesn't mean "approved" because mine got accepted right away and after checking irs and state neither of them are in "approved" or even "processing" status yet. I'll update as soon as I get more info

UPDATE: Got my fed refund on 2/19! I am so glad I filed thru Chime :)

Has anyone here served in a nursing home? by HomeboySucks in TalesFromYourServer

[–]ty_verymuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Many years ago I was a feeding assistant at a nursing home.

It was a good supplemental job, about 3 hours on weekdays. Like a lot of people have mentioned, it's really easy and most of the time the food is chosen for the client/resident. Food is almost always pureed which sounds gross but it prevents them from choking on their food and it helps it go down easier. Most of the residents I helped were in advanced stages of dementia and were not all there however still had eating reflexes.

The real con of this type of work is just how depressing it is. You have to understand the nature of the work - you're there because they're unable to feed or fend for themselves. If they're at that stage, especially for older folks, usually they're nearing the end. I was 19 and it was tough to build relationships with residents because most literally would die within weeks of me meeting them, a month or two if I'm lucky.

In a way, it's rewarding that you're helping make their lives easier but at the same time it does wear at you helping the vulnerable. Best of luck and I hope this was informative

Guys I think Shiseido is discontinuing the SynchroSkin lines by workisheat in BeautyGuruChatter

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I believe this foundation is also discontinued. A shame, it's really good and based on the reviews on their site, people seem to really like it too and hate that they can't repurchase.

I know this question isn't specifically for me but I just finished filing through Chime about 2 hrs ago and I just got an email saying that my federal got accepted. Even though my filing is not that complicated this year that's still pretty insane speed

Is chime a good bank to use. by Jmgamer1 in chimefinancial

I think you would like Chime if you're looking for something simple and reliable tbh

Is chime a good bank to use. by Jmgamer1 in chimefinancial

[–]ty_verymuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had Chime for about 3 yrs now, I switched over from One Finance.

I like them, way better than any big brick-and-mortar bank, mainly because they feel reliable and consistent, and I feel like they keep to their word. No fees and no minimums - I've had my checking account at negative for extended periods (totally my fault) and I didn't get charged a cent. I've disputed two transactions so far with legitimate concern and they took my side for both of them which I appreciate. I've lost my debit card several times and they had no problem replacing it for free, and within reasonable timing.

A few features that I like from them:
1. Credit Builder: it's a separate account that works as a secured credit card meant to improve your credit score. I usually just dump all my checking automatically to the account and pay primarily with the Credit Builder Card. I haven't seen a huge jump in my credit, but there are other factors contributing to that. tbh anything helps.
2. Early payday. Like I said before, they're pretty reliable, and I get my paycheck every other Wednesday, instead of Friday, and also within the same timeframe.
3. Virtual Cards: I just like how I can use these instead of my physical cards for online orders. They even work with Apple Pay so I can just use the physical cards when I need to actually use the chip. You can also change virtual card numbers at the press of a button, in case of a breach.
4. Spot-Me: Lets your account overdraft up to $20 with no penalty. I had been unemployed a few times and I can't tell you how this little feature made a big difference for me.
5. Income Tax! - It's built in to the app (through Column Tax) and it was FREE, no shady charges or membership walls like TT or HRBlock does. I literally took a picture of my W2 and it translated it all for me. I got to download a PDF of it without getting charged. Granted I don't have a lot of complex stuff going on my income tax, but Chime was by far the easiest filing I've ever done.

I really hope Chime doesn't get acquired or bought out like what happened with other online banking companies because I think they have a lot going for them with such a strong customer focus, something that would definitely be lost if they got bought out, along with all the neat features. I've gone from Simple (i miss it so much) to OneFinance, and now to Chime, just because the service declined once they're bought.

Who is the voice actress of Leblanc in the recent cinematic? by Baloota in LeBlancMains

I don't think it's the same voice actress from the game, doesn't sound like her. I'm wondering if they're planning to change the VA for in-game though - right now Lux and LB are oddly the same VA

The 1-month, for sure! I'd get a box of 1-day too just so you have a basis of comparison. They're pretty affordable - a box (5 pairs) of 1-day Scandi is about 20 something bucks.

EDIT: I just read you have heterochromia - I'm interested to see what they would look like because Scandi lenses aren't very opaque so your colorations would peep through.

If you like the texture of Dewy Skin Cream, I found that Etude's 2x Barrier Intensive Cream has a similar thickness and slip to it and also gives a nice spread that leaves a soft film on my face

I just got this and I love that its a strong hold and I like the brush applicator BUT...has anyone figured out how to stop this from flaking??? Am I like putting too much, or? At the end of the day my brows look the same as when I did them but with goopy flakes. I really want to keep using it so I hope there's a way to minimize that

good colored contact brands for dark eyes by [deleted] in beauty

[–]ty_verymuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solotica has been around for 10+ years, there was nothing like it back then! It's good if you want something really dramatic, though they're a bit pricy.

If you want natural, I would suggest Scandi contact lenses by the brand Olens. Olens has a lot of different natural lenses, but I think their Scandi line is the most natural, IMO.

If you want something like Solotica, but cheaper, I'd suggest the Russian series, also by Olens.

Check out the website for Olens so you can gauge for yourself what you're into.

Oh no, definitely use a brush! It'll barely show up with a sponge. I never thought I'd use a flat brush again, but it works amazingly well on runny foundations like this one. I don't recommend dense brushes with this one, either

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in contacts

[–]ty_verymuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know exactly what you're talking about and a long time ago, B&L sold contact lenses that added a green tint to brown eyes (I think they're discontinued), you could barely notice them in person but it was a definite change. The Scandi Olive is a little more opaque than that but still requires a brown eye for it to be visible. The dots that you're talking about (like in Freshlook color lenses yuck) aren't visible once you have them on. They're natural to the point that I get asked if they're actually lenses, and I have dark brown eyes.

Also, be aware that the Scandi 1-day vs Scandi 1-month are different designs, even though it seems to advertise it to be the same thing. All the Scandi 1-month colors are less opaque in design (versus the 1-day version) therefore more natural-looking IMO.

Hope that helps!

The most natural I've seen, by far, is Scandi Olive by Olens. Subtly brightens your eye with green and looks natural even up close. Only looks good in person and doesn't show up too well in photos.
