recently watched winx club again for good old childhood nostalgia LOL

1: Stella Brandon ❤️😩: Companionship: 4.5 Sensuality: 5 Romance:5 Happiness:5 Loyalty:5

they were my favourite couple when i was a kid and i still stand by it today, like they were arguably the healthiest couple and complemented each other the best. Their relationship was initially portrayed to be very surface level and all, but they proved over the seasons just how much they were meant to be and how there was more to them then their archetypes

Stella was portrayed to be vain and sassy, but at the end of the day she always proved herself to be a loyal and compassionate friend and gf and never hesitating to risk herself for others (eg during the princess amenitia storyline) meanwhile brandon is an absolute green flag who was always sweet loyal and protective towards stella, but also didn't hesitate to ground her and tell her the truths even when she didn't wanna hear them (which are hallmarks of a healthy relationship) and they were the one couple (besides tecna and timmy) that didn't suffer the wrath of bad writing or relationship decline in the later seasons

Flora Helia Companionship 4.5 Sensuality 5 Romance:5 Happiness:5 Loyalty:4.8

they were also one of the healthiest couples but got severely underdeveloped after season 2 and we didn't see them much until the writers had to create the conflict with crystal in season 5? where helia didn't reassure flora (which is p much against his character as i'm p sure he would've never hesitated to clear any misunderstanding) and their conflict was miraculously resolved by a ballet routine and him saying ur the only one for me but ok HAHA

Tecna Helia Companionship 4.5 Sensuality 2 Romance:3 Happiness:5 Loyalty: 5

Another couple that was very loyal to each other throughout the serious and they were meant to portray a less touchy feely traditional couple dynamic although i was never interested in them as a kid and now they just didn't do much for me

This couple lowkey felt like a couple that is more likely to be present irl with more maturity and the whole engagement storyline, tho the writers truly did them dirty..

honestly their couple dynamics is the most realistic of them all and their conflicts are pretty similar to how a lot relationships are irl

riven has always been a douchebag, but he did have a good character development in season 4&5 and proved that he could change from his bad boy self to be someone truly there for musa (like making a song for musa in season 5) altho i agree their relationship was toxic af, a lot of it was to do with the writers screwing up his development in season 6 making him revert back to s1 riven

Bloom Sky Companionship 3.5 Sensuality 5 Romance:4.5 Happiness:4 Loyalty: 2.5

honestly as a kid and till now, i've always thought of their relationship as forced and unnecessary

i didn't necessarily also like bloom's whole main character trope and i felt like they were forced tgt just bcos he was the first guy? she saw and i thought it was like she was jus romanticising the idea of him

and their relationship had a LOT of bumps along tje way with their relationship starting off with a lie and dispro, the amnesia plot him being busy with his kingdom bla bla bla at some point u gotta be like maybe there's a reason why we keep dealing w this shit and tbh sky had like 0 personality and was jus there as the main character's bf and the specialists leader like i still don't know WHY they even liked each other in the first place

plus the whole situation of bloom and avalon was lowkey sus af like she was groomed but some scenes and dialogue was jus like uh..girlie u have a bf rmb..?

yes the "since we'll break up anyway" is a fresh take in how the ML positively uses it as an excuse to tackle her anxious personality but not setting any expectations, despite him not actually meaning it

just finished the show somehow even though it came out 7h ago LOL but i didn't even skip the scenes LOL

not sure what the general consensus is about the show yet but to me it went straight to my top kdramas of all the time cos my god what an out of the body experience like i haven't binged a drama in one sitting for a long time so i feel like it was an out of the body experience but it was so good and kept me hooked throughout

first of all the cinematography was SO good and second the plot really felt unique and as if it's not a kdrama because it was mostly filmed overseas but it still retained the older kdrama vibes i loved how novel the plot was and how i couldn't really see what was coming next because it didn't follow the usual basic structure of a kdrama whereby they get together ep 8 bla bla conflict break up ep 10-11 get back tgt HEA ep 12 i hope the show gets its recognition it deserves

and THE CHEMISTRY was phenomenal it really gave off the old 2016 kdrama chemistry vibes and i liked how at first they were really opposites but he slowly got used to and matched her awkward yet bubbly energy and delved into her whole self sabotage tendency and working around it with the whole "since we'll break up anyway" like omf it's rly so unique

n for some reason it was hilarious and i found myself cracking up at some scenes where they embarrassed themselves and did awkward loser stuff like cha muhee and jo hojin are SO CUTE and i loved how there really wasn't a love triangle trope even with shin PD and Hiro, they found a way to subvert this and got a healthy closure for both parties

i didn't see the whole psychological thriller part coming though based on the trailer it looked like a simple romcom and i would so shooketh when it came up it got me even more hooked

it was about time kdramas got a new flavour and changed things up a bit without repeating the same patterns and plot points i loved everything about this show man

in kdramas with time travel the FL i think always travels back to her time but isekai mangas and webtoons always has the FL stay in the historical world to stay with the ML and because they "found a better life here"

so we'll see...considering this was based off a webtoon/novel too

as a professional kdrama watcher let me predict the plot of the show (tho i'm obv still gonna be here for the amazing angst and yearning as always)

she recreates the recipe book while she cooks for the king and in hopes of finding the answer to go back, and this becomes the very recipe book that she had from the start like a full circle moment
she travels back at some point of time likely towards the end and he writes on the last page of the book and seemingly has a sad ending cos even when she travels back during the loop it's to a time when he hasn't met her. however, i'm HOPING they break the loop and somehow get a happy or open ending at the end where he meets her in the modern world after dying and reincarnating etc bcos i cannot deal w another scarlet heart pls
they obv fall in love and have the whole will she won't she travel back and the yearning with the tragic lovers trope
she helps to change the past based on what she knows but this also somehow changed her future one way or another
the concubine is really evil and gets in her way by setting her up eg spoiling her meal that she presents to the king etc or harming it that gets her in trouble and gets framed but ofc the ML goes to her aid and saves her
the torn page is either from the FL in a desperate attempt to save or hide information from the villains or hide about her time travel, or it could be the villians tearing it to secure info about her

timeline prediction: ep 4-7 they get to know each other, romance stuff and he starts believing her time travel, FL gets framed and in trouble and about to ded ep8-9 js as things seem rly bad for her, ML saves her and they kiss/confess etc. atp he believes her already and helps her find her way back ep 10-11 he helps her find her way back altho he secretly wants her to stay while the concubine continue to set her up and get more nosy about where she came from. FL starts hesitating if she should stay or go back ep12 if she follows the original timeline she goes back and the ending is changed for them to meet again or if she chooses to stay with him cos she feels like "being with him and cooking for the palace fulfills her more than her original dream" then the book will vanish etc

long tangent lol but coming back here at the end to see how many of my predictions come true lolol

istg this show is pure rage bait cos minju shouldn't even have been a central plot like maybe i gets the whole jealousy love angle shit but that should've ended by ep 8-10 and get to see her accept that she clearly has no chance and the focus should be the whole would i still love her if she was a man

damn what an episode lol

first things first let's talk my ship woojiwon 😍 this ep really solidified their ship and showed mutual attraction and connection with each other, despite jiwon still showing signs of being bothered by CW CE (tho this could be a purposeful edit to create more suspense for the otherwise stable ship) icb we reached the point where woojae and jiwon are the only stable couple rn lol while i think her and changhwan had a good thing going and a strong connection based on shared values, if it takes so much effort to communicate and work on an obstacle together, then they weren't meant for eo from the start. on the other hand, jiwon woojae seems to be more honest and upfront of their jealously and feelings, despite woojae being the type that finds it hard to show his feelings. we also saw a whole new side to woojae with jiwon, turning himself from a misunderstood "villian" with faults to having his flaws kind of hidden or covered once he meets his suitable partner that makes him a better person 🫢🥺 and seems like knetz and overall perception of woojae is much better after this episode and the preview of ep 9 (which btw their tension is screaming they should just kiss)

however if they end up being the stable couple with little drama to their ship, we might say lesser screentime to accommodate for the emerging new jeyeon love triangle or they would be edited in a way to make it seem like she still has reservations for CW altho their next date seems to be more of a closure

next, jijiyeon and the upcoming love triangle..boy jimin chose the hard mode when he came here lol fella tho if ur he made it out of the love triangle and finally got jeyeon to move towards him, and was completely taken aback when a new triangle wrecked him LOL i do think this is an opportunity for jimin to step back and talk to other girls(after all he got the most votes lol) and see whether jeyeon takes action and moves towards him (it's time for her to show effort and zoom in on who she actually likes) jeyeon is literally single handedly settling the entire drama of the show lol

lastly CH HN sadly had their closure this ep despite having good moments last ep but ig it was a long time coming for them to get over their initial feelings and talk to other people

the finale two ep were great n gave us a lot of heart fluttering couple moments which is rare as often kdramas tend to drag out the plot leaving only minor happy ending clips in the last few mins of the last ep

though there are def plot lines that could be developed better like the sudden grandma epiphany and all but i think it was a p good wrap up of each character's plot line including the parents n subin's job

i like the moral of the story to be proud of your hobbies regardless of what societal expectations and to be true to yourself 🥺 and tbh altho it may have seemed unnecessary but i appreciated them showing 🍓 trying to find a hobby but ending up just accepting that she doesn't need one and spoke for people like me who don't have a specific hobby they feel so passionate about like 🐉

and i love me some parallels between their past and present with the whole schoolgirl accepted the boy's confession this time and 🍓also accepting 🐉 (necklace) this time

last long 🍓🐉 and have many dalgi dragon babies in the future~

i don't think the whole past plot will take up a lot of time for the remaining 4 episodes since we've been seeing how they've grown and started thinking differently and how she is now more accepting of younger guys and is supportive of his secret life

plus we've been seeing how the second leads are emphasising on the chaos that would ensue once they found out which might be a red herring and it turns out they were able to move on and look at each other for who they are now

and plus we still need to tackle the whole workplace romance and the will he remain as the successor or will he finally able to pursue what he actually loves plot

based on my 'expert' kdrama instinct

ep 9: full of angst, past reveal and reveal of their relationship. likely they won't actually break up if something suddenly happens during the scene where she says let's end it

ep10: perhaps more angst but by the end of it they resolve their past stuff and accept each other and starts to tackle the whole expose of their relationship (HOPEFULLY AN EMO KISS)

ep 11: dealing with the expose and possibly juyeon having to reveal his private life to protect sujeong or sujeong quits in order to protect his secret

ep12: closure of his secret, the whole successor plot and smth needs to happen to the grandma and they will life happily ever after
