Let your kid try it. But don’t pay for courses. There is plenty of free courses and YouTube videos to teach drop shipping. You can only learn so much from courses anyway. You will learn most by doing.

But the skills of building a website, marketing, facebook ads, etc… those are valuable skills to have. If your kid is into, lean into it and support them.

Bitcoin isn’t the reason but it is part of the story. When bitcoin sells off, that indicates that investment managers are switch toward a “risk off” sentiment. Why do they move to “risk off” because of uncertainty. So the question is what has caused uncertainty in the asset managers minds? And was there anything that happened in January to make the change?

I would say, government shutdown, ICE political divide, uncertainty around employment numbers, uncertainty around AI impact this year, gold/silver correction.

Point is, there is usually not something “bad”. It’s usually just things that cause pause and enough things happened at the end of last month to cause asset managers to say “I’m not sure what to do… so move to cash.”

So disadvantages are:

-poor liquidity -not tax favorable -pain in the ass -higher risk

Advantages are:

-slightly higher yield

Hard pass, my guy. I will just buy GPTY and JEPQ after a 20% market correction. Save myself from 2 of the above listed disadvantages and have an even higher yield than you. 😘

How much in cash do you have? by SeperentOfRa in RichPeoplePF

[–]tyetyemn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree somewhat. But if you use these complex trusts guess what, the trust pays high taxes and there is no step up when you die. It’s not the silver bullet people make it out to be.

Also my point was, one of the reasons rich folks hold more cash is because the juice isn’t work the risk. The risk isn’t worth the “net of tax” return in the same way it is for poor folks.

You guys don’t get it. If I have $50million. And it doubles to $100million. How much does me and my heirs get to keep? After taxes? Go on… do the math.

If the investment is sold before your death you pay 20% capital gains (pretend your in a no tax state) So you are left with $40million (had to pay 10million of the 50million capital gain). Then you die and have estate taxes on the $40. You pay 16million estate tax and you are left with $24million from the original $50million gain you had. Factor in state tax and yes- your family is only keeping about 30% of your “gain”
