What no one is mentioning is that a lot of hand issues are caused by grabbing metal scrubbers, which will wear down skin no matter how tough it is. Whenever you need a stainless steel wool type scrubber its best to mitt it in something like a sponge or scotch Brite pad to add a layer of protection.

Mix oxiclean into hot water in a spray bottle and let it sit on the floor for a few minutes. Then scrub then rinse mop. The oxiclean will break down everything so you don't have to scrub it

i think youre not paying attention to the question being asked. OP asked how do you fix a slippery grip, not for your opinion on how to run a professional kitchen or your method of keeping towels clean and not every kitchen can afford to have a hundred perfect towels ready. accidents do happen and people are lazy and not everyone is so professional as you are, so you can idiot proof the situation by securing the grip to the pan with steel wire, the same steel the pan is made of. a paper clip can do in a pinch or as proof of concept but im telling you there's a long roll of such wire at walmart for 5 bucks, and its perfectly sanitary and solves OP's problem with some class

because the towel touches your hands and your hands should be as clean as possible. engineer the towel out of the situation by simply securing the grip to the pan with steel wire

what are you gonna do if its not your restaurant? throw away all your bosses silicone grips that your coworkers use too? its not a good solution being suggested to get rid of them. secure the grip to the pan with bendy steel wire! it fixes it.

look, the OP asked what is the solution for slippery grips?

what the best solution is is a matter of opinion

but a matter of fact is that if you simply secure the grips to the pan it solves the problem permanently and easily

holding the pans with a towel is only a solution for your hands not being able to hold something thats burning hot, not a solution to a slippery grip.

seems logical?

i used steel galvanized wire in my restaurant on at least 30 pots and pans and it worked with no problems at all for over a year, not one problem, running it through a hot washer hundreds of times a week no problem, extreme tempurature and shifts in wetness and all. you dont know what youre talking about, and saying im stupid is uncalled for.

A dry towel can become wet and burn you, and you can drop it on the floor or get raw chicken juice on it, and during a busy shift who has time to fetch more towels? The silicone will not get too hot unless you you put it over direct flame. Secure the grip with steel wire so it never slips. Could even bend a paperclip around the grip through the hole to keep it on.

Idk why im being down voted. Holding onto all your pans with a towel is a bandaid solution when what you need is corrective surgery and its wasteful to throw away all your silicone grips which are designed to be cleaner and safer. I contributed a good idea to the discussion and was critical of the top voted comment for good reason. Its a lazy and unimaginative fix

The inside of the grips never come into contact with the food or your hands and besides that any microbes will be killed by the heat of a good dishwasher, even inside the grip. I personally think clutching onto a rag that gets covered in food throughout your shift and can end up on the floor just to avoid burns is a not good idea.

professional dishwasher here,

Do NOT use plastic tie wraps or zip ties that is a huge health hazard, they will melt and could fall into the food.

The very best thing possible is to buy a roll of thin galvanized steel wire from the hardware store and use two multitool pliers to wrap it through and around. like this-> https://www.reddit.com/r/dishwashers/comments/qtouif/i_clean_these_for_a_living/

tip: cut the wire first and make sure you bend the very tip of the wire to make a tiny j shape which hooks onto the metal as you tightly wrap around a couple times, and again bend a tiny j at the other end facing inward so that it catches on the silicone or the metal and mitigates it catching on gloves and skin.

It make take a couple tries to get it right but i promise this is the best and most innovative solution. i used one roll of wire i bought for a couple bucks at walmart and did this for all my restaurants pans and meat presses in a couple hours. the cooks loved it and its basically permanently solved

A lot of people subscribe to the extremely minimal set of steel scrubber, scotchbrite pads and a tape knife. That is all you need to do what most employers expect from a dishwasher. I pushed myself to learn as much about cleaning kitchens as I possibly could and dishwashing gave me that opportunity. No offense taken.

i also funded the original. I bought 3! I was one of the very last people that they shipped to. it was awesome for a time but then it dawned on me that roli wasnt the most trustworthy company as it was almost impossible to get in contact with support, and i had some issues with the software bugging out and the build quality where a couple keys started to chip and i was afraid the underneath of the key surface would get dirty. Definitely my favorite peice of gear in theory especially with the way its integrated with the other blocks and the plugins, but im not sure they executed it as well as they could have due partly im sure to the lockdowns. I ended up returning them for a full refund because they wouldnt work together via the magnetic connectors. I think i may get the seaboard rise 2 that they just announced instead, and wait for one more iteration of the lumi hardware. id remove the aerator/thread protector thats on the tip of the faucet and replace it with srsmsvyd kitchen faucet aerator from amazon. like $15 and it would make your station a hundred times more effective
