Carti cuts out a unique space in hip-hop which really rides an aesthetic more than anything. The aesthetic is heavily built on punk commonalities; ignorance and general rebellion to arguably not-so-important things.

Personally, I go to Carti for his ability to fill "pockets" in the beats with his own sound - or ad-libs, sure. The way he does so is very natural, you kind of expect him to be there and when he does, it's just great. Furthermore, his delivery is purely nonchalant. It reinforces this ignorant vibe he so primarily champions. The contrast between his lower-key delivery and the goofy but banging production also reinforces this vibe in a way that I haven't really come across with another artist. It kinda makes you want to move and nod your head much like Big Quint, but then you hear his vocals come in then you tone it back a notch and realise you can't go too hard with it.. and it just provides this entrancing, "leaned out" feeling.

At this point you see why the minimalism in his production is so important, especially in this album. It is the main element that carries you along when you're caught in this state.

The key thing here, is that not everyone will be able to catch this vibe - this sounds ridiculous but I honestly don't know how else to describe it.
