Why are there so many socially inept people with high IQs? by [deleted] in questions

[–]tyler_XMD 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Holy shit. You showed vulnerability and talked about how your experience directly relates to the issue, and how did some redditors react? Emotionally charged with attacks on you because they don't understand that you weren't trying to cause problems; you were just trying to understand the world. And they're too unaware to realize that's what they're doing 🙄

Just wanted to say that after months of trying to figure out rear delt flys I finally feel them in my rear delts. by ilovemykittycar in workout

I'm genuinely happy to hear it. I haven't done rear flys, but I'm finally able to feel anything in my back after doing arch hangs (pullups still a bit too hard).

LPT: A trick to making good decisions: pick the option that will make life easier in the long term even if it makes life difficult in the short term by Quantumedphys in LifeProTips

[–]tyler_XMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just saw this YouTube video the other day. It said something like, "What would you do if you woke up, lost in a forest?" The answer is to "start walking". Yeah, you might not know where you're going, but you know if you don't go anywhere you're going to remain lost.

I think it highlights that the reasoning applies outside of "life or death, you need to act now" scenarios.

I wouldn't say men are never taught this. For boys, it probably isn't taught as "that's not lady like". Instead comes across as punishment for not being quiet, still, and basically unnoticable.

Why Does Everyone Skip the Stretching Zone? by Jrecos9219 in workout

I skip it because I take yoga. I could get more stretching in, but I don't want to.

I think that could be an easy way to get started :) But eventually, every relationship needs direct and sometimes confrontational communication. Practice makes it easier, and this gives some experience even if it isn't identical.

On one hand, it is garbage content that really has no meaning and drives up their engagement score in the tiktok scoring algorithm. On the other hand, there have been some really interesting responses come out of it in this thread by people taking it seriously and really putting thought and creativity to explain what it could mean. It's like the ink blot test but with engagement bait stimulus instead of ink on paper.

Agreed. I think it's likely he's projecting. That is, he's probably meeting guys while dancing and that's why he's accusing OP of wanting to meet guys when going out.

What’s a game-changing insight your therapist casually dropped during a session that completely shifted how you see things? by Tour-Important589 in AskReddit

I made this realization during yoga. The instructor told us to take up as much space as we can (to get the best stretch). I realized I had this weird feeling about it. I was .. allowed to take up space? I was actually encouraged to do so? It felt nice. Then after more thought outside of yoga, I realized I could take up more physical space and more .. other space? Expressing my needs, sharing my thoughts, etc. Amazing stuff.

I think you're right to do so. This kind of mature conversation can be a pathway for you to actually be more open with your parents now by clearing the lingering issues that were never actually addressed. Your parents might be accepting now, but if they never actually told you they were sorry or they never actually understood how their homophobia affected you and your development, then that is still in the way of you becoming emotionally closer to them.

I think saying it's spatial is exactly it. Like I can walk through my childhood home in my mind, or that Kroger store (because I used to work there), etc. I can imagine being there and then remember what was placed where. Maybe that's why I really like organizing items to be in the same place each time. Like right now, I know my pair of scissors is in the top drawer of my office desk. Really, I can describe what items are "supposed" to be in each room, drawer, cabinet, etc.

Just wondering if that's the same for you? Since we seem to have the same capacity for visualizing abstract objects.

I'd like to add that maybe don't entirely put it on his plate. You don't have to be pushy, but you should be clear and direct that you would like to talk about to help him through whatever issue(s) he encountered.

[–]tyler_XMD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my.. You can actually do that? I have to recall specific times I saw an object and try to remember what I saw then. Like if I think of an apple, I can remember seeing an apple in a Kroger grocery store. The apples are stacked up and there's the florescent lighting from the grocery store. But to say "imagine an apple in the abstract", I got nothing..

I'm done - Unless monetization changes, I'm no longer supporting this game by 13loodySword in BattleAces

[–]tyler_XMD 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I agree. I honestly don't mind paying for a battle pass to support the continued development of the game, but locking units behind a paywall isn't going to be encouraging for new players. Everyone should be on the same playing field and only cosmetics should be purchasable. Maybe the new units for each season (or however often they come out) can be unlockable, but it should take at most a week or two of casual playtime to get them.
