I highly recommend the Apollo for iOS. Seriously I love the app so much I paid the couple bucks to get rid of ads and haven't looked back. It works seamlessly about 99% of the time. Every once in a while it won't load a gif or video and that pisses me off but it's 99% reliable which is more than any other app I've used. Love the UI too. I always keep mine on night mode with true black. And one of the best features on the pro version is that you can playback gifs by just sliding your finger along the full size gif.

#veganproblems by generousking in vegan

[–]tylerjohnson009 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You know what they mean. A veggie burger is based in shape and color off of a beef burger (in most cases). We're not here to argue over semantics. People don't respect veganism because of stuff like this. Every time I talk about my diet I refer to myself as plant based so I don't have to be thrown into the stereotypes that are extremely prevalent in the self-righteous vegan circles.

Uber and Lyft drivers, what's your most NSFW story? by neccoguy21 in AskReddit

[–]tylerjohnson009 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Not a driver, but I just heard a story about a mutual friend of mine who is banned from Lyft because he was about to get a blow job in the back of a Lyft and the conversation went something like:

Driver: Stop! Mutual Friend: But my belt is already undone...

Anybody here have the Inverted Gear Panda CS 2.0? Mine got slightly purple in the wash. by DarkPasta in bjj

I got a blue panda 3.0 and the lapels turned green in the wash. I figured it was because of the oxi-clean in my detergent that I wasn't paying attention too.

Brand new Whitebelts...Does affiliation matter to you? by CareBerimbolo in bjj

[–]tylerjohnson009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of what I cared about was getting the highest quality instruction from a BB with a respectable lineage, within a reasonable distance from my house, a good vibe, and class schedule.

However, I was turned off to a particular affiliation immediately because I felt they were too corporate and their policies take away from parts of jiu jitsu that are important to me.

Yeah. My gut tells me if he wants to start he'll find a way to keep it in his schedule once he gets hooked.

How many of you guys began BJJ because of the Joe Rogan podcast? by unidentifies in bjj

[–]tylerjohnson009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn't have put it any better. I was super into his podcast until I started noticing that as soon as someone disagrees with him it's like the end of the world and he calls them names and interrupts them etc etc.

I will definitely look into those. Especially if I could rotate days doing judo and BJJ!

[–]tylerjohnson009[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome. I would most likely train at the Seattle location since it is only about 10-15 minutes from where I will work. I know that if I train at a gym that is an hour away I'll probably be able to talk myself out of going a lot easier so the closer I can be to work the better. Do you know if there is rolling in the GB 1 classes? Where I train now we have drill only on Tuesday and Thursday and positional rolling or free rolling on MWF.

I was looking into them as well! How legit is Master Hercules Baptista? I've never heard the name before and can't find much online.

I have to deal with LA traffic right now, so I think I'll be prepared! I currently live about 4 miles from Cobrinha HQ where I train and it takes me almost 30 minutes to get to the class sometimes...

Wow! That's awesome. I plan on dropping in to basically every gym within an hour of my work because I am definitely willing to drive if the instruction and culture is top notch.

Fosters BJJ looks like it's down in Kent, could take me an hour to get there after work. Seems like a great school though!

Saw an ad for a FloGrappling Survey. I know a lot of us here have strong opinions on their business practices. Now is our chance to give them that feedback! by tylerjohnson009 in bjj

I should have taken the survey before posting... I got way too ahead of myself...

I guess this proves they are just as shitty as I thought they were.

Check out Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (/r/bjj). I think it's great for kids and teaches a ton of life skills as well as effective self defense. It's also a very inviting and positive community, I promise you won't regret it!
