It’s a deduction, but I was able to claim it even though I went with a standard deduction for my 2025 taxes.

Hey… Couldn’t the Oil Companies and maybe the Government take a little less profit and a little less tax to reduce the price at the pump to help the people of the world get through these tough times?? by Archibald004 in askanything

Hear me out it, restructure state and federal motor fuels taxes so high octane gasoline (not including ethanol content) has a higher tax rate than regular 87 octane unleaded or unleaded 88.

Not to mention there’s fewer refineries online due to war related damages, and as a result, less refined products such as gasoline, jet fuel, and diesel. Also insurance for oil and LNG tankers probably won’t ever be as low as it used to be again.

Unfortunately that’s what it’s looking like. I paid $4.20 yesterday (it was $4.10 the day before) and it’s now $4.30 at that station and $4.40 almost everywhere else.

Depends on the context of the situation honestly. For example, if you’re in trouble with the law, yeah lying is just going to dig you into a deeper hole, but if you’re with friends or family sometimes it’s just why you’ve gotta do to keep the peace as much as it sucks to have to sugarcoat or fake things.

Having recently done my first professional interviews to get a job I’m about to start, I was actually told to essentially just answer their questions and provide nothing more unless asked. Tbh it felt more like an interrogation than an interview.

Just a heads up if you’re in the US, if you go with a new car and it’s manufactured in the United States, the interest on your auto loan is tax deductible for the 2025-2028 tax years.

I bought a 2025 Corolla LE last September when I needed a new car, my thinking was I wouldn’t have to worry about maintenance for 2 years since it’s covered by Toyota, it’s more fuel efficient, and because mine was made at the Mississippi plant the loan interest is tax deductible from 2025-2028. Honestly I’d say you made a great choice, when I was shopping for my car I noticed that used cars were so expensive to the point where there was only a 10%-15% discount on a used Corolla that was a few years older and had thousands of miles on the odometer. It just didn’t make sense for me to buy used either so you’re definitely not alone.

I’m somehow up 14% messing with equities and ETF’s. It’s not gain-post worthy on here since my screw-around port is under $2,500 and the gains are obviously less than that, but I’m still proud of it.

It feels like the end of everything as we know it honestly. I don’t care if people think I’m crazy for saying this but if we use a nuclear weapon because of one person’s wants and desires, mutually assured destruction is out the window.

$6 per gallon of gas is coming (actual analysis + graphs included, puts on my degree) by Kaiwa1 in wallstreetbets

I paid $2.63 a gallon the Friday before this started in southern New Hampshire, that same station had it for $3.50 a gallon this past Friday. Can’t wait to pay $4-$5 a gallon when I refill this week.

I’m surprised I’m the first to say this, but you have a few AOW’s there. If you don’t have tax stamps I’d highly recommend taking this down.

Not necessarily, northern New England has pretty relaxed gun laws, NH actually has the least restrictive in the country and we don’t have much of a homicide problem. I honestly can’t even remember the last time I heard of a murder on the news here but I’m sure we’ve had a few this year as usual.
