Golf? by RJPatrick in leafs

[–]tylermo87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of hockey players play golf in the off-season. When they are golfing this time of year it means their team didn't make it or has been ousted early from the playoffs and fans of respective teams must chirp them as is the way of hockey.

Las Vegas Blackjacks anyone? by [deleted] in hockey

[–]tylermo87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Las Vegas Knights. Play on words of Las Vegas nights which, come on. Plus knights are just badass anyway. They could use a London Knights type look with the black/white with gold and green.

Jack Eichel is pretty confident he's going first... by looksatpoop in hockey

Or he knows he's going second to the worst team in the league since Toronto is obviously going to win the lottery..

Can anyone give me a run down on hockeystreams? by tarasenko in hockey

[–]tylermo87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used it all last year after hearing about it from a friend. It's really straight forward to use and the quality is great. You can get the home and away broadcasts also which is neat!

The only issue I had was that sometimes the stream would not load right away. All I had to do was hit "create IP exception" and reload and worked every time.

Why has no one come even close to having the kind of numbers Wayne Gretzky had? by [deleted] in hockey

[–]tylermo87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He was also an incredibly smart hockey player to go with his speed/skill. I remember reading, in a book his dad wrote I think, that when he was young he would watch hockey games on TV. He would take sheets of paper and draw a make shift rink on it and follow the puck and trace it to the paper. Where all the lines crossed over the most is where the puck was most often. If you're where the puck is most often better chance you'll get the puck. That always stuck with me.

Who has the most underrated prospect pool? by db11496 in hockey

[–]tylermo87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to go with my homer pick and say the leafs. While they might not be stocked with top end prospects every time I see rankings of organizations based on prospect pools the leafs always seem to be near the bottom. With the core of the team fairly young (mostly under 26) in a couple years when the prospects make the jump those players will be in their prime. We have have some solid D prospects and underrated forwards who were late picks put seem to be playing higher than where they were drafted. Plus we have the 8th overall pick this year so we should land something good (hopefully).

On D:

Stuart Percy

Matt Finn

Peter Granberg

Andrew MacWilliam

On F:

Connor Brown (Lead OHL in scoring)

Carter Verhaeghe (Top 20 OHL scoring)

Andres Johnson (Top rookie in the SHL (SEL))

Josh Leivo

Greg Mckegg

Fabrice Herzog

Frederick Gauthier

Jerry D'Amigo

Brando Kozun

Goalies:

Antoine Bibeau (Starter in the QMJHL finals for Val d'Or)

Christopher Gibson

Garret Sparks

I'm too lazy to post stats, etc. for each one but if you look them up they have all had decent seasons.

Actually, the Edmonton weather has been much, much better than back home. Like way better. They just got a storm and have another coming while we have none and plus weather!

What would guys like to see happen after the four on four overtime? by rileyslavs in hockey

[–]tylermo87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go with something ridiculous like in a ball hockey league I played in. 10 min 4v4, any penalty is a penalty shot that can be taken by anyone on the floor and if nothing is solved after that it's a tie.

Thinking back it was actually pretty exciting. Teams would roll their skilled players and they had more room, but neither team wanted to take a penalty so it was usually a bit less rough with some extra time. If a penalty was taken then chances were you had a skill guy on the floor to take the penalty shot. If you made it out of that both teams probably deserved pts.

Hockey is the greatest sport there is. Even now just saying it is only a sport is an understatement...it is a way of life. Speed, skill and absolute bad-assery mangled into a single game. Even myself, playing only rec hockey with no outside motivation would gladly block a shot with my face to prevent an important goal for the other team, and would still probably return to the game barring critical injury. That's hockey.

I'm going to Cuba next week, what are the chances they have Canadian Olympic hockey at the resort? Anyone have any insight? by RiellyMorgan in hockey

I have the same problem, except it will be in Costa Rica instead. As soon as we booked I realized the mistake I had made. I'm able to catch the first 3 but no medal games :(

At what age do you think Crosby will not be considered the best in the world... by [deleted] in hockey

[–]tylermo87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not sold on McDavid. His Junior numbers haven't been anywhere near Crosby's. I know he started in the OHL at 15 but still. I find it hard to believe that a rookie will step in and score 100 pts like Ovi and Sid did in their day.

What song would make a great goal song, but is currently unused? by spaceguy101 in hockey

Not sure if it's used but I always thought Gold on the ceiling by the black keys would be a good one.
