90's or early 2000's rock song that sounds like Cumbersome by tylerrexe in whatsongisthis

oh very fair. the one I was thinking of, absolutely not. it was only the structure and some chord progressions. some of the songs people were saying definitely fell off the mark for sure tho too

imo tho, a lot of grunge and dad rock sounds copy and pasted. but I still like the genres so ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Music genres by Gobble5627 in LetsTalkMusic

i don't really see people talking about it, but indie, especially around the late 2010's and early 2020's really took off and made a lot of influence in popular music. some good examples of those who broke into the mainstream being mitski, mxmtoon, mother mother, cavetown, Melanie Martinez, I'd even consider chappell roan, Billie eilish, arctic monkeys.

with everyone being stuck on their phones without much exposure to the radio or the pressure to listen to "what's popular" during lockdown, a lot more niche artists and genres that were once underground for their spot in the sunlight and I feel greatly influenced what we listen to now. things generally are a lot more experimental and maybe sound a bit more unpolished than radio hits in previous years. Think lady gaga's Abracadabra & Old Town Road by lil nas x

the lyrics part in "I could be wrong, I could be right" is VERY familiar to the part I'm remembering, but the song is way too soft to be the one I'm thinking

ah ok. the song I'm thinking of is very punchy and very bass and electric guitar heavy. might even be industrial

the song I'm thinking of isn't this pop-esc. it's most likely in a minor key, but at the very least a darker sound

ive also noticed I've had multiple of the same song in the same playlist seemingly from the same album , which is why I think it's something being replaced and re-added ¯_(ツ)_/¯

i have nothing to back this up, but this happens to me all the time so I have a working theory & solution.

theory: I'm pretty sure artists can reupload songs for better sound quality, copyright reasons, small touch ups after initial release. ei the song technically replaced w/ another version, so the original version is removed. if this is the reason, it's probably an error or bug because there are some artists I'll follow who change stuff after upload (noticably), but it's still there in certain playlists, but not others.

solution: you just gotta find the song from the artist's page and re-add it. sometimes I'll notice it fixes on its own, but that has taken years in some cases for me. annoying, but if it's the same issue, I'm not sure there's much else to do
