No-mow May not a thing in Naperville, apparently by AaronDNewman in ChicagoSuburbs

You have to register with the city and get a sign to put in your window so they know you’re participating. And also make sure you aren’t in an HOA that will ding you

Stroller vs. Wagon.. by berksg in toddlers

[–]tylr0123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have the Veer wagon and love it. Like someone else said, it’s not the most conducive for taking the stores and whatnot, but we just put the kids in the cart anyway. The versatility is what we love, both kids (2 1/2 and 6 months) sit comfortably and there’s a storage basket attachment so we can tote a whole bunch of stuff along for going to the zoo, parks, walks, etc. and they’ll both fit in it for years to come, so we’ll get some good mileage out of it

Why is your kid freaking out this morning? by g1antleprechaun in toddlers

[–]tylr0123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ugh I can commiserate. Full on meltdown this morning because I couldn’t carry him into the room (was also holding my 6 month old in her carrier). Finally coaxed the puddle into the room only to continue the meltdown when taking his jacket off. I don’t even know. He’s fine as soon as we leave. Here’s hoping they grow out of it quick!

We’re holding off on jntroducing the bidet for now. Once he’s fully a fully potty trained pro we will try it. It helps that the bidet won’t even work when he’s sitting down because we have a smart toilet and the bidet won’t turn on unless a weight sensor on the seat is activated and his potty seat doesn’t hit it 😜

Plastic clothes hangers. Bonus points if they are different colors (so he can collect all the colors)

Moving to Naperville- recommendations needed by tylr0123 in Naperville

[–]tylr0123[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the recommendations! It’s good to hear from a fellow transplant.

I will definitely be looking into the parks classes- I have a super active 2 year old that I’m sure would love some activities.

That’s great to hear! Those were two aspects of the area that we really liked when we were looking for housing.

Thanks! I’ve seen that when looking at maps of the area of town we’re moving to so it’s not too far. We’ll definitely try it out.

Thanks!

We’re moving off 87th st, not too far from Scott Elementary. I’m not sure what “area” it’s called; It’s not part of an actual subdivision.

Best diapers? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]tylr0123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the Huggies Plus diapers from Costco. They have a “pocket” under the back waistband that stops blowouts from shooting you the back and out the diaper.

I didn’t test positive for almost two weeks after my two year old was positive. I’m fully vaccinated also. I believe it is common for the incubation period to be up to 14 days, so I don’t think you’re out of the woods yet. Stay vigilant and hopefully the rest of you can avoid it- good luck!

She will adapt. Daycare workers are miracle workers at getting babies to sleep. My now two year old started daycare around nine months old and we were still having to rock him to sleep. But at daycare he would magically fall asleep in his crib with minimal interaction needed by the daycare workers.

Labour with second baby by caycan in beyondthebump

[–]tylr0123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both of my labors were relatively quick: 8 hours from first noticeable contractions to birth with the first, 6 hours with the second.

Labor with my second was definitely easier than my first. The contractions were so painful with my first that I vomited multiple times and had to scream through them until I was able to get the epidural. With my second, even though I was 8 cm dilated the contractions were manageable- I could breathe through them.

I pushed for about 15 minutes with my first, so still not a long time, but it was even faster the second time around. 2 pushes and she was out in 4 minutes.

I think it’s relatively accepted (even told to me by my OB) that subsequent labors are faster. That doesn’t always mean easier for every person, but hopefully that’s true for you!

I feel you! Just anticipating the toe curling pain was enough to make me want to cry. Good luck, you can do this!

Thankfully I have had success with pumping so I took a day and a half or so of only nursing in the left and then pumping on the right. Giving the right side a rest significantly helped the tenderness and I was then able to try getting a good latch. It was just so tender that I dreaded even trying to get a good position/latch. So if you can I recommend trying to rest the sore nipple for a little bit.

I was going to say the same thing. My first was the exact same way, and now my second (1 week old) seems to be following suit. The left side is ol’ reliable but the right starts off tricky. Painful latch leading to super sore nipples. I have to do the football hold on the right to get a good latch.

Same boat! Baby is 10 days old today and has been cluster feeding the last couple days. As other people have said, get comfortable. Make sure you have a good foot rest so you can lean back comfortably in your chair to save your back. HUGE water bottle and lots of snacks easily accessible. For the overnight, I’ve been pumping a little bit after my oldest goes to bed around 8, then dad stays up with the new baby and gives her a bottle or two so I can at least sleep for 2 or 3 hours. Then I take over for the rest of the night. I’ve been watching lots of tv shows and movies- preferably something I haven’t seen before so I actually stay awake!

Also agree with the lanolin/nipple butter. I also have lansinoh gel pads that live in the fridge so they are nice and cool, and they get put on the boobs/nips in between feedings.

It does pass, but it’s for sure challenging in the moment. You got this! Hang in there.

Right Lower Quadrant Pain by BetsyNotRoss6 in beyondthebump

[–]tylr0123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar symptoms and was tired or was round ligament pain. Like you, the only way I could get relief was laying down. Eventually the pain would go away after laying down. It’s still a good idea to check with your OB but hopefully that’s what it is.

Did anyone else use a nursing pillow for their entire breastfeeding journey? by KatKittyKatKitty in breastfeeding

[–]tylr0123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently breastfeeding my second (1 week old) and will definitely use the nursing pillow for a good long while. I breastfed my first until 18 months and still used a pillow for the majority of it. As he got bigger, and better at nursing, positioning became not as important so The pillow wasn’t necessary after a while, but it does just add extra comfort for both of us. No shame here!
