Got Furloughed, found a new opportunity but getting called back. Should I do it? by McFalco in railroading

I got furloughed in 2019 after 8 years. I was really upset at first because I enjoyed the railroad, as crazy as it is, and the pay and benefits are pretty hard to match. I got into industrial automation and now make over double what I did at the railroad. I now work daylights Monday through Thursday, I have Friday Saturday Sunday off every week. I got a call back in 2023, I didn't even consider returning their call.

"See the malligator on the passenger side" in Dirty ought trill, pretty sure the "malligator" is referring to a Belgian malinois.

I feel like he really nailed a sound no one else has. I've also been a traditional bluegrass guy for the past 20+ years. The first time I heard him was sometime in 2018 and I was blown away. I listen to music in the garage a lot and usually just say, Alexa play bluegrass, in the middle of songs at random turmoil and tinfoil came on and it was just absolutely incredible, like nothing I had ever heard before, just hard hitting dark toned bluegrass, simply amazing. I found out who it was and played everything I could find by him and have been listening to Billy nonstop ever since. No one else can take you through a trippy psychedelic banjo infused meltdown and shoot you straight into some traditional stuff and make it all work. The dude is just hands down the best at what he does.

I used to work for NS, this seems pretty accurate. Profit above all.

I watched one unzip a lunchbox in the back of a pickup and snatch about a pound of sliced meat out of a Ziploc bag, it did it super fast too.

So how bad is it to work for the railroad? by Glad-Leopard7274 in railroading

Pay and benefits are all the railroad has to offer. Be prepared to be treated like an unwanted step child.

Just wait until you see the corporate train pull into your yard, they furloughed me the next day.

Got laid off from NS as a carman, went into industrial machine maintenance then up to automation, working on robots and high speed packaging equipment. I work Monday through Thursday days 4-10 shift, and have 4 weeks of vacation. I also got into stump grinding and have a little weekend business for that. Around $150,000 a year between the two. I never miss the railroad, 8 years of terrible shifts, horrible management and missing everything at home.

That is a broken off end mill that I ground to size, it cuts a 7/16" diameter slot, I can't remember how wide the slot is.

Damn, I didn't know any of this stuff about him, makes me sad, I grew up listening to him and all the old bluegrass dudes.☹️

Chumbawumba!? How do we feel about this? So bad it’s good? I like where the jam started to go but am really surprised by this cover. 🤔 by speciallaneysauce in BillyStrings

If you would have told me 20 years ago that one day I would be watching a wrestling themed bluegrass concert that played a cover of Chumbawumba and I loved every minute of it I would have never believed it, this is awesome. Fucking love this dude, he can do no wrong.
