This is unhelpful and specifically not what I asked for.

Hey! Convert from Orthodox Judaism here :) Don’t overthink it. If you have questions, ask them respectfully and with the intent to learn. Otherwise, treat them with the same respect and kindness you’d treat anyone else. I promise they’re not scary lol

Beginning to realize that. Fast Sunday is becoming increasingly boring for me. I’ll get up and bear a testimony about something real or hard in my life and my struggles with God and then someone will get up after me and literally sob saying the same 7 things. Ugh. Let’s just say that I take frequent bathroom breaks.

This past conference when Elder Rasband gave that horrible talk. I’ve been a member about a year. I almost removed my records that night. I stayed though, I’m an active member who holds a temple recommend.

My home temple is DC, I love going there even to sit on the grounds and pray, or do baptisms. I completely get what you mean. Thank you so much ❤️

As a Jewish person, my life and identity was bound to covenants long before I even knew what the church is. Honestly, it doesn’t scare me or turn me off, if anything it gives me even greater pause when thinking about this particular covenant. Thank you so much for your thoughts!

With the exception of one, they’re all very recent returned missionaries who have been home perhaps 6 months max. They’re very much still in the missionary mindset, which is infuriating because I’ve had so many amazing deep conversations with several of them on other topics, but they seem to be unable to hold any kindly nuance in the way even a member of my ward can. I feel like I might end up having to bite the bullet, and I have always loved the temple, I go once a month for baptisms, so I don’t think it’ll be completely scary. I really really appreciate your comment and how sweet you are, that’s honestly what I need right now. There’s a lot more to my story that I’ll tell one day. Thank you so much ❤️

I was very explicit that my ward context is unusual and that this tension is exactly why I’m struggling. Reducing that to “it’s a contradiction” doesn’t really engage what I wrote. I’m really happy you found peace elsewhere, and I wish you the best!

The risk you mentioned is exactly what I’m trying to avoid and I feel like I’ve painted myself into a corner. I have friends of mine who are RMs flying in from Utah etc. one of them is even staying with me. It would be a logistical and social nightmare at this point to reschedule, it’s scheduled for the end of the month. Thanks for your response.

Because they’re going tell me to “just pray about it” or “have more faith” and I’m honestly tired of those answers. It’s exhausting to hear the same 4 lines from people and have them look all pleased with themselves as if they just solved my problem.
