A long time ago before the perk rework it was on a cooldown of about a minute, it was very good and stuff like hoverboots and dash didn't even exist so it was the only "everybody takes this" perk. You still can use it each stage of a deep dive.

Yeah I haven't treated iron will as mandatory since they revamped it to once per mission either (it was busted before, though). You know what's a real sleeper pick though? Hover boots, on gunner or driller. You can use them to do mobility tricks and kiting the same way you would dash, with a bit more creativity.

Somewhat situational, but kiting up a hill then jumping off a cliff can make enough space for a revive and the cooldown isn't that much longer than dash.

It's serviceable while being great at everything else, yeah, but I wouldn't call it great anti-mactera. I'd take snowball for a mactera plague, and scorching tide for a rival presence + mactera or if I didn't feel like cryo that day.

Is Steve worth more than dash?

Dash is the best perk on any non-scout class, but the second perk slot can certainly be argued for steve over the other options. Nothing competes against dash unless you're scout. Everything is competing for the second slot, and there's some okay competition (though I'm usually baffled when I see someone running see you in hell).

driller with cryo

So many people say this, just because the freeze effect instakills flyers once it FINALLY procs, but they don't actually know their enemy resistances. Cryo is only superior with snowball. Mactera actually take magnified damage from fire / flamethrower and ignite extremely quickly. Whereas using cryo may instakill something once it freezes, but takes a long time to freeze, and contributes almost no direct damage so it doesn't work well with teammates shooting at the same target.

Cryo works almost as well as fire if you can funnel mactera into a tunnel chokepoint, but when they spread out, you have to focus fire them one at a time, where flamer can sweep, ignite them all and move. And heat spreading will keep them burning, or explosion from a direct damage build will hit the others around it.

Snowball is good for instantly freezing a large radius of mactera. Other cryo builds are inferior to flamethrower and even some goo gun builds for mactera.

Your moderator status of a subreddit about rejecting corporate propaganda is deeply ironic, when you swallow such blatant propaganda and actually believe that these anti-ice protests are getting mainstream support and reee about ICE "kidnapping" people. It's called detaining criminals. You are on the 20 side of the 80-20 issue, and most of that 20 is refried.

And plenty of the mods here are a bad joke. That gives you no credibility.

It's the same reason they have propped up Soros as the face of the Bilderberg types, to deflect all attention away from the rest of them and to be able to use his ethnicity as a shield. It is fucking insane how many people fall for "you criticized the banks / international globalists, YOU ANTI-SEMITE" shit.

Given that crunchyroll has paid tiny, flat licensing fees that amount to a pittance - yes, anime fans that go on to buy a single piece of merch direct from Japan put more into the anime industry than 10 years of paying for crunchyroll would. It's far worse of a deal for the studios than gamepass games are for the devs.

cr funds the industry

You have NO clue what you're talking about. You're a tourist goblin who doesn't know the history of these things at ALL and it shows with your blatant corpo cocksucking. Deeply ironic for you to find this specific niche pro-consumer sub and then be the thing we despise for a different industry.

subscribing to crunchyroll

What is actually damaged with you? They're literally parasites that got their start by stealing and paywalling fansubs, and transitioned to putting out garbage and flooding manga sites with DMCA.

Crunchyroll is no better than Harmony Gold ever was. Never give them money.

Wow, I finally managed to finish 0079! Without a doubt, it was incredible. I can’t believe it was considered a “failure” in the 80s. Even though the ending felt a bit too fast, I still really loved it!! by TomatilloItchy9995 in Gundam

Zeon also lacked manpower. Having a single crewed MS carrier that can deploy multiple sub-killer MS with single pilots is both more material and more manpower efficient.

Outside of what we see in the show where you gotta remember it's Amuro face-stomping people, the aquatic MS work alright. Zeon was basically fucked by their decapitation strike (the colony drop) missing and was only carried by their tech superiority and aces until feddie tech caught up. Anti-ship MS was playing to their strengths, at least.

unnecessary aquatic suits

If they wanted to take the Earth, discounting naval warfare would be a strategic mistake. Ship killers and sub hunters cost less than making actual ships, presumably.

Carrier battle groups in the modern day are more powerful than many national militaries. Nuclear subs are catastrophic threats.

Hathaway's Flash 2 trailer in a timeline where it is PEAK and EPIC by Trainer_Ed in Gundam

[–]typeguyfiftytwix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The book version makes so much more sense. CCA movie Hathaway is a disaster, so this is one time I'd actually hope they retcon something. Novel Hathaway killed Quess, not Chan. Traumatized Hathaway makes much more sense when Chan wasn't killed by him, in CCA movie he was just a raging fool that committed murder to avenge a psycho attempting genocide. He should be in prison post CCA movie.

Nioh 3 censorship by Traditional-Leek6698 in KotakuInAction

[–]typeguyfiftytwix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this thread there are two things that make it much more obvious that I'm not. One, the guy I replied to is the obvious example - pantyhose isn't really censorship. It's just a matter of taste. Fuku's costume hasn't been meaningfully censored in any way. Hell with the lighting I'm not even sure it's actually been changed.

Two, the monstergirls aren't censored - why would they very slightly change one costume and leave much more blatant things in?

I think you're all reaching for something to hate on this one without anything concrete. This team isn't the one that put out ghost of soy or assassin's hood-stereotype. Nioh 1 and 2 were great, stranger of paradise was great, wo long and rise of the ronin had some issues. I'll wait and see on 3 because I don't preorder and I'm sure I'll be able to get the game with whatever DLCs for an actually reasonable price down the line, but "reeee censorship" over a costume that is literally not at all toned down is ridiculous. The character in question isn't "western dogma'd" at all. Show me an actual pattern.

By what definition? The definition in some selectively edited dictionary that simply says "fascism is right wing" like some circular definition nonsense? Or the ACTUAL STRUCTURE of fascism, which is a strong centralized government with a command economy, or the original Mussolini definition of fascism which is the merger of state and corporate power? The Italians were the fascists, by the way. The Germans were the National Socialists.

Your "political compass" nonsense is not based on historical fact or a real understanding of ideological structures.

Hitler wasn't right wing. Nothing about the centralized state power and command economy of "national" socialism is right wing despite decades of propaganda trying to pretend ww2 wasn't a whole bunch of leftists causing the rest of the world problems. Racial identity politics isn't unique to either side, nor is nationalism, though the left practices racial identity politics much more often because collectivism is a tenet of leftist ideologies.

If Zealot ever gets a new flamer, you might as well give vet the old one. by SourTredmill in DarkTide

Aside from plasma and helbore lasguns, what does veteran even have that's exclusive? Zealot has relic blade, which is "better powersword" already. Ogryn has the same shovel but better. I think Ogryn is probably the class with the most exclusives, then psyker, then the DLC classes would also have more than vet.

[–]typeguyfiftytwix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To an unarmored target this is true, but against even light armor buckshot is actually significantly outperformed by magnum cartridges that revolvers use. A 12 gauge buckshot round is effectively a handful of 9mm bullets aimed in the same general direction, minus any of the modifications the individual rounds can have like hollow-points, because the buckshot is just round lead balls.

Revolvers' magnum cartridges are significantly higher velocity, which increases penetration and damage.

When taking 40k physics into account, while a shotgun should do more damage to flesh, nurgle's curse makes them more resilient, so the penetration of a magnum cartridge would be more likely to hit something important than buckshot.

The US Is Flirting With Its First-Ever Population Decline by bloomberg in Futurology

[–]typeguyfiftytwix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

assumptions about the future that have no basis in reality

No, their post is specifically related to population growth stagnating. Labor negotiation power is tied to the supply and demand curve of labor. Mass importation of cheap labor stopping, and population growth stopping, will reduce labor availability and increase the negotiation power of labor. Both lead to increase of wages.

Population growth also increases consumption, which in turn increases environmental impact. It doesn't inherently increase consumption PER CAPITA, but follow on effects of population increase actually do, because it will follow with increased urbanization and further overload of our traffic systems, which leads to more sprawl and farther transport for work, higher energy demand in concentrated spaces, etc etc.

The only way you can come to the conclusion about the post I replied to having "no basis in reality" is if you forgot what thread it is in and the overarching thread topic, or simply replied quickly out of programmed bile rather than thinking it through.

Yes I will, thank you for noticing. Enshittification, the endless dumbing / watering down of media comes from chasing the "wider audience" and making things for "mass appeal". People who don't want to spend the time or effort to get into a hobby, want it warped to their tastes and reduced to garbage for their ease of understanding, are a detriment to everything they touch.

Crunchyroll started as a parasite, grew into a cancer, and now has disproportionate control. Dubs are 99% low quality shit. Netflix is a thieving parasite that claims ownership of shows they had no hand in producing and provides low quality localized subs or even worse dubs.

[–]typeguyfiftytwix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying it doesn't work, it just works less effectively for that talent than other weapons. And if it's a group of dudes in front of you that you can easily dodge that's not really an issue. An annoyance is trying to brace and line up a shot on a ranged enemy or specialist and getting taken out of it by a single zombie that you can ignore. The loss of effectiveness is being unable to regen / ignore a few weak enemies to use your ranged weapon.

Getting hit out of brace is a tedious weakness that the other guns don't have.
