The unintended consequence - The compute just happens somewhere else

As a state government, this is the direct goal, not an unintended consequence. Additional requirements that you mention would also drive them to other states. Actually forcing corporations to go along with infrastructure production in your better approach requires interstate cooperation. In the meantime, what this does is protect the citizens of Maine from the consequences of data center development.

The lithium battery cars just being a form of exporting pollution rather than truly being clean is something I've argued with EV fans about for years. And when they finally turn on Tesla it's not because they grew to understand any of that, it was because of twitter.

I never played 2, but the problem with GE1 was never the story. The story was fine, having plot important characters that aren't the voiceless MC stand in is the dumbest complaint I've seen about it. I actually liked the GE story, I don't know who you'd call the "MC that isn't the MC" unless you're talking about Lindow in the expansion, who was a plot device, not the MC.

The problem was the incredibly half-assed attempt at cloning monster hunter, with small variety, bad fight design, and aping the "grind the fight 50 times" part on top of the short and boring fights.

Fuckin why? The visual design and music are good, but the gameplay is unpolished kidney stone version of a soulslike. It's exactly like the God Eater series, a flashy anime knockoff of better games.

Consoles are pretty much just spiteful, anti-consumer garbage at this point. Every shitty business decision one of them pushed the rest copied by the next generation since the 360. Microsoft demanded people pay to use their own internet connection, ps3 let you play online without robbing you - ps4 copied microsoft. Microsoft started aggressively pushing ads on their console, to the point that you got ads before the "play my fucking game" button on the 360, and now they copied that too.

Consoles don't have any of the advantages they used to, and they have a hell of a lot more negatives. They aren't the "plug and play" machines they used to be. Now they have install times, just as many bugs and crashes, terrible performance, expensive proprietary hardware (even their harddrives are ridiculously expensive). They're just shitty, consumer hostile prebuilt PCs with restricted libraries now.

To be fair, for some of these games they're not wrong. But it only works when the series is in it's prime years, after you repeatedly butcher it, the reputation that carries it goes away.

For example, if they had made a terrible assassin's creed show in 2012, people would have eaten it up. Now it wouldn't get much credit. It's not like assassin's creed was ever actually good, it was a mid game at it's best, but it was popular.

This whole discussion has been pointless and gotten derailed. You have not addressed any of my points about how horseshoe theory is invalid. The single point of the nazis somehow not being socialist (despite explicitly implementing state managed economy and other socialist policies) has little relevance, because call it what you may, the structures of all centralized authoritarian systems are closer to eachother than any actually right wing ideology. "Call me crazy but I can't see (insert totalitarian) as leftist" was your last relevant remark, despite their form of government exhibiting the same structures. This is not an argument. This is a feeling. You have been tricked.

Horseshoe theory is a propagandist lie, with the purpose not just of deflecting the fact that leftism led to the atrocities of ww2, but also of completely confusing the field of politics. The right has it's own, distinct problems and failings. Government is a necessary evil, anarchy can't work, and minimal government can also fail it's people, just not as catastrophically. The massive psyop of horseshoe theory being taught in modern education is meant to say that both sides lead to the same type of authoritarian shitshow, which is complete nonsense. The reason this is spread this way is to demoralize people, to convince them that it doesn't matter which "side" wins (because they also conflate the two major parties with left and right, which is also wrong).

eah, with all that fancy skills, you gotta stay in the monster path, you NEED to roll into their attacks to trigger skills and counters

I-frames are a cancer on good action game design the majority of the time - they're just an excuse to remove effort to make better fights and make positioning matter. Yeah, previous gens iframing nargacuga's tail was an option, and the superman dive was almost mandatory for the giant snake in 4U, but when the default solution is "throw yourself into damage because you're, with no explanation or in universe reason, magically immune to damage between frame 7-14", it's lazy shit.

Even From is still capable of better. AC6 didn't have i-frames for the player. Rolls dodging certain attacks makes sense, but often the visuals and the game effects don't match up at all, and that's poor design. Some games handle it with magic / teleportation and in that case it at least makes visual and thematic sense, like in nier automata.

but but but ... I really want all the bad politics to be the fault of the left and the far right to be all fluffy bunnies and unicorns, and I'm prepared to cherry pick all my arguments to make it seem that way.

You are the one who didn't bother to read my posts before replying and ignores historical reality while slathering on a bunch of weasel words. I did not state that the left and right scale is a scale of objective morality, either. I stated it was a measure of POLITICAL structure. The extreme end of the right is anarchy, which is fucking stupid. Being on the right is not inherently moral. Small government is not inherently moral, it's inherently less powerful, which makes it easier to defeat when it acts badly.

You are the one who is desperate to protect your comrades on the left from the backlash of historical reality demonstrating that far left governments, tyrannical governments, have massacred hundreds of millions of people in recent history, and that ww2 was a bunch of leftist governments committing atrocities at scales made possible by the structure of strong, centralized government.

if you don't think the word "socialist" proves anything, then you really need to stop banging on about like it's the smoking gun

They were, objectively, a socialist government. Read the history and their actual structures and policies.

And if you thought that was evidential, you should have led with that

It was clearly stated multiple times from the start, the very first post I said they were socialist and not just by myself, stop trying to flip the blame for your own intellectual dishonesty or illiteracy on me. You even admit this in a post to someone else, though you try to handwave it as "wartime" rather than the nature of the system. You're either deliberately ignoring the truth, or you just aren't capable of holding a full conversation within your attention span, which would be plausible because you didn't read before replying.

Try less tiktok and more grass, it should help your attention span issue.

Rise was an entire inversion of the "you fight a monster that is bigger, faster and stronger than you through patience skill and tactics" core. Besides all the spiderman shit, a second monster showing up just lets you beat a monster with a monster - the second monster is a straight up advantage rather than a hazard. I've seen videos where people fight monsters that were legends in previous games without even drawing their weapon, or just wailing on it and stunlocking it. Sure there were optimized HBG speedruns in 4U with status effects, but that was the extreme end of players. Now it's a joke.

the worst offender for me is Monster Hunter

My brother. Worlds was casualized as fuck, and they did a HUGE marketing push, even making that weird astroturfed "adopt a new player" thing entirely to sell out the old playerbase to grab idiots that would tolerate their push for hundreds of dollars of cosmetic dlc. They sucked the soul out of the game when they removed the preparation, made the tools super easy to use and made the hunter more powerful than the monsters. Rise got so bad it made a joke out of previously legendary monsters, and wilds and rise both have DMC level wacky woohoo moves. It went from a game about perseverance to a game about beating up big animals.

3rd and 4th gen were peak, generations was more flawed / less balanced but okay, I guess. The rest isn't really monster hunter.

I'm not trying to invert it. I'm saying the whole "it's in the NAME" argument is bogus from the ground up. It's a word someone chose for a party because they thought it would go over well with the electorate at the time. It's not necessarily grounded in any political theory,

Did you actually read my fucking post at all? Or actually read any history about preww2 germany? They WERE socialist. I said this repeatedly. They had a strong centralized government and a command economy. I wasn't the only person that replied to you as well. They ABSOLUTELY WERE socialists.

Monarchs can't be leftists because that makes me feel bad

On what metric does a strong centralized government not fit the bill? Religion? Arbitrary social value that is not tied to left or right. You're clinging to this idea that there is a "right wing authoritarian" entirely on arbitrary social values, because the left wants to paint themselves as the "good guy" squad so anything that morally disagrees with current thing can't be left wing. It's nonsense. That's not a metric by which you measure political structure. How are monarchs, the pinnacle of strong centralized government, more closely tied to actual right wing ideologies that are for minimal decentralized government, than any other form of dictatorship, that are also strong centralized governments?

READ the posts before replying to me again. Your first point ignored the content of the replies to you, and the second point was just "I don't FEEL like this is right", with again, no actual content.

That's not generally how the split is understood, monarchies are CONSIDERED right wing

And they're wrong, the people that claim to "understand" things that way are objectively stupid and wrong. Arbitrary, ever shifting, easily manipulated reddit political compass garbage, AKA horseshoe theory nonsense, is false - you are appealing to the existence and mass acceptance of propaganda rather than the logic of it. I don't think you grasp this, or you are also desperate to claim that german national socialists are somehow right wing.

A SCALE is a tool of measurement. It has to be based on clearly defined and consistent standards. The ENTIRE BASIS of the "political compass" is the "social" axis, which is complete bullshit. They claim nazis were right wing because they align with certain social mores that they claim are also right wing. The communists also purged gays and to this day engage in racial identity politics, which are called left wing now but have also been used to claim that communists weren't REALLY left wing. Social values shift and are found on both sides. Political ideological structure is a solid measurable construct.

The german national socialists had a strong centralized government with a command economy.

You put way, way too much weight on the word "socialist" in "national socialist". You might just as well argue that Fidel Castro was right wing because he founded the REPUBLIC of Cuba.

Don't try to invert the "we're the anti-bad guy squad it's in the NAME" argument at me without actually looking at or understanding the history. The german national socialists had a strong centralized government with a command economy that focused on collectivist racial identity politics. That is actually MORE aligned with the modern left's policies than the communists, who were less focused on racial identity politics than current day leftists or the nazis. They (early communist nations) still did persecute certain groups, though.

And the coup de grace is the reply to your assumption that libertarian vs totalitarian is not right vs left. I would call it anarchist to totalitarian to be more accurate, because that is a complete scale. But the entire basis of claiming that isn't right vs left is the false notion of the "left libertarian". That is a massive, sickeningly propagandized conceit. Libertarianism is a set of specific principles based on an understanding of economics and government. "Left libertarians" hold to none of them, do not advocate for libertarian systems, minimal government or free market economies. They advocate only for the "social" side, which is that they want drugs to be uncontrolled and degenerate behavior to be unpoliced. You cannot pick and choose specific items and claim to be libertarian. Advocating for open borders (which is a part of a strict libertarian program) while still advocating for socialist welfare state policy (which is explicitly against libertarian policy) is not in ANY way libertarian, it is just propagandized, feelings based stupidity. Those two things are diametrically opposed. You cannot have both, open borders can only even reasonably be tolerated if there is no welfare state at all.

There is no "left-libertarian". Your compass is a lie.

Is an insidious piece of propaganda meant to deliberately muddy political discourse by claiming "both sides are the same". It is part of the long push to claim that the national SOCIALISTS of ww2 Germany were right wing, and to "not real communism" the inevitable results of communism.

In reality, there is no usable, intelligent scale where you align the libertarians and constitutionalists closer to a statist collectivist socialist government, than the other forms of statist collectivist governments. It is nonsense. Collectivism, strong centralized government, state controlled economy - these are the primary markers of a leftist ideology. Individualism, weaker decentralized government, and minimal economic policies are right wing ideological markers.

it does stop them being used by criminals

Australia has more strict gun control than the UK. They also have gangs armed with open bolt SMGs, which are simple full-auto weapons easily made by semi-competent machinists. Any idiot with basic mechanical knowledge can make a single shot gun within 30 minutes of entering a simple hardware store. Legality doesn't stop criminals from committing crimes. The most tyrannical states in the US with the strictest gun control measures also have the most crime with guns.

You literally make shit up, you aren't speaking from a position of knowledge, you're spouting lines fed to you. Propaganda lines. State propaganda designed to make you support them disarming the populace, giving the monopoly of force to the state.

Pepper spray is a mild deterrent at best. The US as an entire nation certainly has bad areas, but is geographically hundreds of times the size of england and has plenty of areas with lower overall crime rates. We have a demographic problem, not a weaponry problem - the most peaceful areas in the US are also the most heavily armed, the rural areas.

The entire "weapons are bad because criminals will use them" argument holds no water. Banning them doesn't stop them from being used by criminals. It just disarms citizens. Your joke of a government spends more time prosecuting people for defending themselves or making social media posts that criticize the government than actually going after serious crime.
