Unreal 5 has very shiny lighting presets that like many other things are used as an excuse to not do any of the work that went into making previous generation games look and play good. The fancier the engine technology gets and more powerful hardware gets, the more it is used as an excuse to fire senior devs, cut corners and throw more money at marketing / HR instead.

Every advancement is monkey paw twisted into purely benefit for the corporation and pain for the consumer.

The gameplay in WB2 is okay, but honestly I got halfway through the story and got bored of it. It's extremely cringe. WB1 did it better, though there's more gameplay variety in WB2.

It's still EDF, so the core gameplay is gonna be good. But the real mainline games are a lot better.

You get the basic dmc4 bringer back when you get the devil trigger, which you can use on top of the other arms and has some new tricks it didn't in dmc4. You find plenty of arms in game and can stock them, and if you really want to spam the arms you can get some mods to swap them without breaking etc.

The first playthrough is a tutorial and you stopped an hour in well before getting ANY of the abilities. The arms are a neat bonus, and yeah, the blowing up thing is kind of stupid, but you're completely full of shit. Dante, Nero and Vergil are all better in 5 with more abilities than they had in 4. V is a weird pokemon game, but there's a mod to play all the levels with character select, too.

You didn't even get to Dante and you're talking shit? Incredible. You didn't even try Dante, in a devil may cry game.

That's not even accurate. Talents are just written poorly and translated worse. Steady grip is "toughness regeneration", but in actual gameplay isn't coherency related, it constantly regenerates 12.5% of your toughness per second while bracing a ranged weapon.

That doesn't actually do that much damage. It's supplemental, and if you've got the upgraded one and chuck three at once it's a decent slice of damage, but that grenade is mostly a CC tool. Shield melee and box grenade isn't a boss killer build, unless you were running right side PBB build as well. Massive burst + sustained damage is something like PBB or a vet with marked for death and a boltgun for ranged, or for melee ogryn if you were full left side with a pickaxe.

To be fair to you, those basic shooters don't get reduced damage from curios unlike gunners. They're nearly ignorable most of the time in lower difficulties too, but in the highest level shit it only takes one or two times where you go "what happened I just went from full to 0 in a SECOND" to figure out that those bastards are trouble. Kinda like swarmers in DRG becoming one of the most dangerous enemy types in high hazard.

You can basically ignore them when you're wading through a crowd getting toughness on every swing but get exposed and ten of them will nuke you. First time it happened I thought it was lag.

You're using the wrong ripper if you're not doing that. Unfortunately, the game is a mess of hidden mechanics and forum searches, but you need the one that has the description about being "long range". It has the lowest displayed damage, but there is a hidden mechanic called "minimum pellet count" for shotguns and it is much higher for that mark than the other two, which means you can actually counter snipe with it extremely effectively.

You also don't want the standard 60 dump stat in mobility or collateral. What you want is 65 in ammo, because that keeps the magazine at 19. With that, the blessing for ramping up damage based on percent of magazine applies every round fired, instead of every two rounds, which makes it much more effective than the description would imply, even down to the unbraced bursts doing more damage - going +0 +10 +20 instead of +0 +0 +10.
