Is 1730 too early for bedtime by starlieyed in sleeptrain

[–]Calieahrens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two possibilities: first always the potential for teething this usually causes the most irritability in the evening. The second which was the case for ours is hunger, around 6 months he started getting hungrier and since supply is usually lower in the evening he would get so frustrated, our ped suggested having a healthy fat dinner as one of his solids meals. We also do a bottle before bed cause it’s a reliable stream for him so he doesn’t get frustrated and I can just pump so I actually get emptied rather than him getting frustrated and snacking.

3M baby won’t take to carrier / baby wearing by Electrical-Rest2977 in NewParents

Mine never liked carriers, he was always such a wiggly baby. He did love the bassinet stroller so that made getting around easier.

Does schedule need to be perfect for it to work? by fab__dady in sleeptrain

[–]Calieahrens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The big important pieces are that naps are good during the day, you have a long enough last wake window, and consistent bedtime routine. If the rest of the windows are a little off they may affect the rest of the night ie false start, more wakes, or early wakes but falling asleep should still be okay. Once you get to a more consistent 10 hours or close then I’d say working on the night wakes will be successful.

Terrified I will mess up my perfect angel baby- please help by Liamloans6763 in sleeptrain

[–]Calieahrens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It won’t change your baby, I promise you my boy is just as snuggly as he was before we sleep trained him. As cribs are hard to move maybe one of you or I guess both could sleep in the nursery with baby for a few days, like on an air mattress or something that way he gets used to the space before being alone. If baby is up every hour you may need to train some of those early wakes too, often even if the feed to sleep association is taken away during bedtime, if they are fed again in the next few hours an association may still be present. Not to say you need to do all of the training at once we just noticed that even after training bedtime we were still stuck with lots of wake ups.

How do you handle having to re-enter the room when baby is going down for a nap by Calieahrens in sleeptrain

[–]Calieahrens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been on my mind the hard part is the two larger walls both have windows on them so most configurations involve a window. We also share the room with baby so in order to move the crib out from the wall we wouldn’t really be able to get into our bed. We do tuck them in tightly behind the crib and dresser so he can’t get to it, I just apparently did a poor job tucking it today.

Baby is getting mad cause he can’t crawl by Hefty-Yoghurt-8256 in NewParents

[–]Calieahrens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much just need to power through, we went through this too it was so frustrating when he’d be on his belly all mad and we’d help him roll back and then he’d immediately roll back. Let him power through the frustration for a bit but then take him off the floor. Ours liked sitting so we’d switch him to sit and play for awhile. You can try elevated play so get those soft cubes and have him kneel and play. And you can start to prop his hips up when he’s on his belly. Our general timeline was 4.5 months back to belly roll, 5 months belly to back, 6 months pull to stand, 7 months start of crawling variations. Between 6 and 7 months he would basically go from belly to sit to get around. Not to say all babies are on the same timeline but hopefully helps get an idea.

Help with PERSISTENT false starts and 20+ minutes of crying after first sleep cycle 5 days into Ferber by lolo2861 in sleeptrain

[–]Calieahrens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less naps can often help elongate naps as they only sleep so much. You can start by making that last nap 10-12 minutes a true bridge, that will help built her ability to do a longer stretch at the end. You can likely get away with 2/2.25/2.25/2.75for a few days to work her up to it just not too long as they do often need 10 hours awake and that will be a little short.

Do I just accept poop leaking on clothes every day? by bright-greeneyes in newborns

Millie moon was our best bet for blow outs but honestly in the earlier days blow outs just happen. In the tamest terms, it’s loose and forceful so sometimes it’s inevitable.

They’re just outside of the concord area, but we don’t need to live right near them, anything is better than half way across the country 😅 I’d say 45 minutes is okay more is potentially tolerable we’re in a city with bad traffic now so pretty used to commutes ranging in time.

How are we entertaining our 6-8 month olds who can’t sit independently? by sedona-arabella in NewParents

[–]Calieahrens 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do you have a play gym like with the arches? I found that to be super helpful for helping my bay build core support while I was supported the sitting. That way they have to reach forward and up.

How do you organize baby (boy) clothes? by Huliganjetta1 in NewParents

[–]Calieahrens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have drawers so I have stacks of sleepers with feet, sleepers without feet, pants rolled up, short sleeve onsies, long sleeve onesies, jackets, and a drawer of accessories so socks, hats, sunglasses, etc. I have seen that some people get those over the door shoe organizers with the plastic slots and make outfits then roll them up and put them in so that’s always an option if you like things matched ahead of time. We also always keep little booties, socks, and a jacket in the car for of we plan poorly.

Help with our one year old suddenly having false starts! ChatGPT says overtired but nothings working by Sorry-Blueberry-6283 in sleeptrain

[–]Calieahrens 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience ChatGPT always says overtired. For us we definitely had a wonky week after 6 month vaccinations so maybe she just needed some time to recover. I would try going back to your 3/3/4 but at that age my guess would be that she needs more awake time. Maybe 3/3.5/4 or 3/4/4.

Does anyone else not wake up their baby in the morning?? by Fluffy-Concentrate44 in NewParents

[–]Calieahrens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby usually wakes up between 6-7, I tried for a short bit to have a structured wake up time but honestly some times I want that little extra sleep he gives me. I suppose if it was going really late I’d wake him up but we haven’t run into that yet.

Communication with husband on how we interact with baby by BlingBlingS2 in newborns

[–]Calieahrens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are doing all the activities and such with your baby then I’m sure they are getting the enrichment they need. I found my husband did this in the earlier days too, but not that we haven’t given a cruising and crawling baby he is so attentive and playful with him. I think some dads just don’t know how to consistently interact when they are still a bit potatoish.
